SchoolNotes.com - Linking Educators to the Community
It's October at the Preschool Pond!

It has been so much fun to learn about autumn. We started off October with a study on apples. We loved singing about apples and reading about apple orchard, but I think the favorite activity was actually tasting and describing the different apples. We had great descriptive words for our observations.
We will continue to talk about harvest and what crops that are harvested in the fall as we study what happens on farms. We will use our fine motor skills and language to build farms as well as activities such as writing letters in paint with miniature tractors.

In Social Studies and Science, this month we will be talking about Farms and how all the different parts of a farm work and help our own community.

In Language Arts, we will be reading books about farm animals and what food is grown on farms. We will also be working on recognizing our name throughout the day as well as writing it. This month we will also be focusing on the letters A, B, C and D, E, and their respective sounds. We will also read and retell the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

In Math, we will count seeds in pumpkins and apples. We will be measuring rice and beans in the sensory table as well as weigh our different pumpkins and corn. We are excited to compare and graph what we can find. We will also continue to match and count objects to the corresponding numeral in order to recognize numbers 1-20.

In Science, we will continue to observe the changes in the fall weather. Also, we will discover and observe the parts of an apple and as well as corn and pumpkins.

In Religion, we will talk about how God provides to give us a home and food. We will also talk about God's love by examples in the Bible such as Noah's Ark.
