BIENVENIDOS. I want to welcome you and your student to a new school year and to my Spanish class. The learning of a foreign language can be a unique experience and I will make every effort to stimulate the interest of all. I teach Spanish I 2nd,3rd and 5th periods and Spanish III 7th and 8th periods. On this page you will be able to see activities that we will be doing and homework assigned each day. SEMESTER 2

1/19/10 TUESDAY
SPANISH I - I RETURNED THEIR FINAL EXAMS WITH SEMESTER 1 GRADE.  WE REVIEWED IR + A + INFINITIVE AND PRACTICED WRITING SENTENCES WITH THEM.  STUDENTS WATCHED THE DVD SEGMENT ON 6 VERBS WITH IRREGULAR YO AND ADDED THEM TO VERB CHART. STUDENTS DID EX. 36 ON P. 140 IN THEIR TEXT.  HOMEWORK IS A WORKSHEET WITH IR + A + INFINITIVES AND TO MAKE FLASHCARDS WITH THE 6 IRREGULAR YO VERBS.

SPANISH III- STUDENTS GOT BACK THEIR FINAL EXAM WITH THEIR SEMESTER 1 GRADE INCLUDED.  STUDENTS TOOK NOTES ON NOSOTROS COMMANDS AND FILLED IN THE REMAINDER OF THEIR COMMAND VERB CHART.  STUDENTS DID 3 EXERCISES ON A WORKSHEET.  HOMEWORK IS TO MAKE FLASHCARDS FOR THE 1ST SET OF VOCABULARY WORDS.  NOSOTROS QUIZ IS FRIDAY, CONDITIONAL QUIZ IS NEXT TUESDAY AND 1ST VOC. QUIZ IS NEXT THURSDAY.

1/20/10 WEDNESDAY
SPANISH I- WE WENT OVER THE HOMEWORK (WORKSHEET IR + A)AND THE 6 FLASHCARDS.  STUDENTS DID ORAL POINTS WITH IR + A + IFINITIVE.  STUDENTS PRACTICED WITH THEIR IRREGULAR YO VERBS AND I GAVE AN OUTLINE OF FRIDAY'S QUIZ.  I HANDED OUT THE VOCAB. LIST AND STUDENTS HIGHLIGHTED THE FAMILY VOC. WORDS.  WE PRACTICED VOCAB. WITH A FAMILY TREE UNDER THE CAMERA.  HOMEWORK IS TO DO WORKBOOK P. 49.

SPANISH III- WE WENT OVER THE COMMAND WORKSHEET AND STUDENTS DID ORAL POINTS WITH NOSOTROS COMMANDS. STUDENTS WORKED ON FLASHCARDS FOR U2/E1 - (ACTIONS)
STUDENTS TOOK NOTES ON THE CONDITIONAL.  HOMEWORK IS A WORKSHEET WITH CONDITIONAL VERBS-DO LEFT SIDE OF WORKSHEET ONLY.

1/21/10 THURSDAY
SPANISH I-WE WENT OVER THE HOMEWORK AND THEN WATCHED EXPRESAVISION FOR VOC.  WE PRACTICED THE IRREGULAR YO VERBS AND I OUTLINED FRIDAY'S QUIZ.  HOMEWORK IS TO STUDY.

SPANISH III- WE WENT OVER THE HOMEWORK, DID ORAL POINTS AND THEN PRACTICED VOC. WITH FLASHCARDS. IN THE LAB STUDENTS DID A PAIRED ACTIVITY WITH NOSOTROS AND AN EXERCISE ON THE CONDITIONAL.  HOMEWORK IS TO DO THE NOSOTROS COMMAND WORKSHEET AND STUDY FOR THE QUIZ.

1/22/10
SPANISH I- WE WENT OVER THE HOMEWORK AND THEN STUDENTS TOOK THE QUIZ ON THE IRREGULAR YO VERBS. STUDENTS WATCHED THE TELENOVELA FROM CHAPTER 4. WE TALKED ABOUT THE CULTURE (CHILE) FROM THIS CHAPTER AND WATCHED THE DVD SEGMENT ON CHILE.  STUDENTS COMPLETED AND TURNED IN THE CULTURE WORKSHEET.  HOMEWORK IS A WORKSHEET (DO FRONT SIDE ONLY) ON FAMILY VOCABULARY.

SPANISH III-
WE WENT OVER THE HOMEWORK, DID ORAL POINTS , AND THEN STUDENTS TOOK THE COMMAND QUIZ.  THE REMAINDER OF THE PERIOD THEY WORKED ON A DIALOGUE.

1/25/10  SUB TODAY
SPANISH I- STUDENTS TRANSLATED THE READING ON P. 144 AND ANSWERED QUESTIONS ON P. 145. HOMEWORK IS TO DO THE FAMILY CROSSWORD PUZZLE.

SPANISH III- STUDENTS PRACTICED THEIR DIALOGUES AND THEIR FLASHCARDS. HOMEWORK IS A CONDITIONAL WORKSHEET AND TO STUDY FOR THE QUIZ.

1/26/10
SPANISH I- I RETURNED THE VERB QUIZZES AND WENT OVER THE HOMEWORK.  STUDENTS SIGNED UP FOR CULTURE PROJECTS. STUDENTS DID ORAL POINTS WITH FAMILY TREE AND THE BRAIN TEASER.  WE WENT OVER NEW VOC. TO DESCRIBE PEOPLE.  STUDENTS DID EX. 1 AND 2 WITH A PARTNER. HOMEWORK IS A WORKSHEET WITH FAMILY VOCABULARY.  FAMILY QUIZ IS THURSDAY.

1/27/10 WEDNESDAY
SPANISH I- WE WENT OVER THE HOMEWORK (FAMILY) WORKSHEET AND THEN REVIEWED FAMILY VOC. WITH FLASHCARDS
STUDENTS DID A PARTNER ACTIVITY CREATING TRUE/FALSE QUESTIONS WITH A FAMILY TREE. STUDENTS WATCHED THE GRAMMAR SEGMENT ON DVD ON POSSESSIVE ADJECTIVES. THEY RECEIVED A 3 PAGE PACKET THAT WE WORKED THROUGH TOGETHER.  HOMEWORK IS TO STUDY FOR THE FAMILY VOC. QUIZ.

SPANISH III- STUDENTS PRESENTED THEIR DIALOGUES AND THEN PRACTICED WITH THEIR VOCABULARY FLASHCARDS. STUDENTS DID ORAL POINTS CREATING SENTENCES WITH VOC. WORDS TO SHOW THEIR MEANING.  HOMEWORK IS TO STUDY FOR THE QUIZ.  MEET IN THE LAB TOMORROW TO DO THE LISTENING ACTIVITIES FOR THIS CHAPTER.

1/28/10
SPANISH I- STUDENTS DID MAGIC SQUARES AND THEN TOOK THE FAMILY VOCAB. QUIZ.  WE REVIEWED STEM-CHANGING VERBS AND WATCH THE DVD SEGMENT ON NEW E-IE VERBS.  STUDENTS ADDED VERBS TO VERB CHART.  HOMEWORK IS A POSSESSIVE ADJECTIVE SHEET.

SPANISH III- STUDENTS MET IN THE LAB AND DID THEIR LISTENING EXERCISES FOR THIS CHAPTER. IN THE CLASSROOM STUDENTS TOOK VOCAB. QUIZ AND DID ORAL POINTS WITH VOCAB.

1/29/10
SPANISH I- I RETURNED THE VOCAB. QUIZZES AND WENT OVER THE HOMEWORK. STUDENTS DID ORAL POINTS WITH POSSESSIVE ADJECTIVES.  STUDENTS DID EX. 14 ON P . 164.  HOMEWORK IS TO DO A POSSESSIVE ADJECTIVE SHEET.

SPANISH III-  I RETURNED THE VOCAB. QUIZZES AND WE PRACTICED VERB CONJUGATIONS/MEANINGS OF -AR VERBS. 1ST WEEKLY VERB QUIZ WILL BE NEXT FRIDAY ON A REGULAR -AR VERB.  HOMEWORK IS FLASHCARDS FOR PEOPLE/PLACES/THINGS AND WORKBOOK PAGES WITH VOCAB. AND COMMANDS.

2/01/10
SPANISH I- WE WENT OVER THE HOMEWORK AND DID MORE ORAL POINTS WITH POSSESSIVE ADJECTIVES. STUDENTS PRACTICED CONJUGATING E-IE VERBS.  STUDENTS WATCHED THE SEGMENT ON O-UE STEM-CHANGING VERBS AND DID 2 BOOK EXERCISES.
HOMEWORK IS IN THE WORKBOOK - PP. 50-54

SPANISH III- WE WENT OVER THE WORKBOOK PAGES AND STUDENTS PRACTICED WITH THEIR FLASHCARDS. I INTRODUCED THE SUBJUNCTIVE (WHAT IT IS) AND THE FORMATION OF IT.  STUDENTS DID 2 BOOK EXERCISES.  HOMEWORK IS A WORKSHEET WITH THE SUBJUNCTIVE.

2/01/10- SPANISH I
WE WENT OVER HOMEWORK AND STUDENTS DID ORAL POINTS WITH POSSESSIVE ADJECTIVES.  WE REVEIWED E-IE VERBS AND WATCHED THE DVD SEGMENT ON 0-UE.  STUDENTS DID BOOK EX.  11 AND 15.  HOMEWORK IS IN THE WORKBOOK- P. 50 ALL, P. 53 # 10 AND 54 ALL.

SPANISH III-
WE WENT OVER THE HOMEWORK AND STUDENTS PRACTICED VOCABULARY WITH THEIR FLASHCARDS.  STUDENTS TOOK NOTES ON THE FORMATION OF THE SUBJUNCTIVE.  HOMEWORK IS A WORKSHEET FORMING THE SUBJUNCTIVE.

2/02/10
SPANISH I-  WE WENT OVER THE HOMEWORK, REVIEWED POSSESSIVE ADJECTIVES FOR THE QUIZ TOMORROW.  STUDENTS LISTENED TO THE RAP SONG FOR THE FAMILY.  STUDENTS FINISHED WORKING ON THE 2 EX. FROM YESTERDAY AND THEN TRANSLATED EX. 11 TO ENGLISH. HOMEWORK IS TO STUDY FOR
THE POSSESSIVE ADJECTIVE QUIZ.

SPANISH III- WE WENT OVER THE HOMEWORK AND STUDENTS PRACTICED THEIR FLASHCARDS WITH A PARTNER.  STUDENTS CREATED SENTENCES WITH THE SUBJUNCTIVE PLAYING THE DICE GAME.  THESE SENTENCES WERE USED FOR ORAL POINTS ALSO.  WE DID TWO BOOK EXERCISES TOGETHER. HOMEWORK IS A 2 SIDED WORKSHEET WITH THE SUBJUNCTIVE- DO FRONT SIDE ONLY.

2/03/10
SPANISH I- WE REVIEWED POSSESSIVE ADJECTIVES AND THEN STUDENTS TOOK THE QUIZ.  WE DID ORAL POINTS WITH SENTENCE TRANSLATIONS USING NEW VERBS AND VOCABULARY.
WE REVIEWED STEM-CHANGING VERBS AND THEN STUDENTS PLAYED THE DICE GAME WITH THOSE VERBS. HOMEWORK IS A WORKSHEET CREATING SENTENCES IN SPANISH WITH THEIR NEW STEM-CHANGING VERBS.

SPANISH III- STUDENTS WENT TO THE LAB TO PRACTICE THE SUBJUNCTIVE.  IN THE CLASSROOM WE WENT OVER THE HOMEWORK AND DID THE BACK SIDE ORALLY.  STUDENTS DID ORAL POINTS WITH IMPERSONAL EXPRESSIONS AND THE PRESENT SUBJUNCTIVE.  HOMEWORK IS TO STUDY FOR THE VOCABULARY QUIZ.

2/04/10
SPANISH I- WE WENT OVER THE HOMEWORK SHEET AND THEN DID WHITE BOARDS TO PRACTICE STEM-CHANGING VERBS.  HOMEWORK IS A CROSSWORD PUZZLE WITH STEM-CHANGING VERBS.

SPANISH III-  WE PRACTICED VOCAB. AND THEN STUDENTS TOOK THE QUIZ.  WE FINISHED SUBJUNCTIVE EXERCISES ON WORKSHEET.  STUDENTS MADE FLASHCARDS IN CLASS FOR NEXT SET OF WORDS.  STUDY FOR VERB QUIZ.

2/05/10
SPANISH I
STUDENTS TOOK THE VERB QUIZ AND THEN MADE FLASHCARDS FOR THE SECOND HALF OF THE VOCABULARY.

SPANISH III-  STUDENTS TOOK VERB QUIZ, PRACTICED WITH FLASHCARDS AND THEN DID A WORKSHEET THAT GOES ALONG WITH P. 131 IN TEXT.  WE ALSO REVIEWED A REGULAR -ER VERB FOR NEXT FRIDAY'S VERB QUIZ.

2/08/10
SPANISH I-  I RETURNED THEIR QUIZZES WITH A GRADE UPDATE.  STUDENTS PRACTICED WITH THEIR NEW FLASHCARDS.
THEY WATCHED THE DVD SEGMENT ON THE NEW VOCABULARY AND TOOK NOTES ON VIVIR, HOW TO ASK FOR AN ADDRESS AND WHAT A HOUSE IS LIKE.  HOMEWORK IS A 2 SIDED WORKSHEET WITH NEW VOCABULARY.

SPANISH III- I RETURNED THE VERB QUIZZES AND WENT OVER THE HOMEWORK.  STUDENTS PRACTICED WITH THEIR VOCAB. FLASHCARDS.  STUDENTS PLAYED A GAME IN GROUPS OF 4 USING IMPERSONAL EXPRESSIONS AND THE PRESENT SUBJUNCTIVE.  I OUTLINED THE SUBJUNCTIVE QUIZ FOR TOMORROW.

2/09/10
SPANISH I- WE WENT OVER THE HOMEWORK, PRACTICED VOC. FLASHCARDS AND DID ORAL POINTS WITH VOC.  TOGETHER WE DID A BOOK EX. WITH VOC.  STUDENTS WATCHED THE DVD SEGMENT ON ESTAR WITH PREPOSITIONS AND TOOK NOTES ON THIS ALSO.  WE DID A BOOK EX. WITH THE VERB ESTAR. HOMEWORK IS TO DO THE BOOK EX.  P. 175 EX. 24

SPANISH III- WE DID ORAL POINTS WITH IMPERSONAL EXPRESSIONS AND PRESENT SUBJUNCTIVE.  STUDENTS TOOK THE QUIZ ON THE PRESENT SUBJUNCTIVE AND THEN PRACTICED THEIR VOC. FLASHCARDS.  I INTROUDUCED THE FORMATION AND USES OF THE PRESENT PERFECT SUBJUNCTIVE. HOMEWORK IS A WORKSHEET WITH THE PRESENT AND PRESENT PERFECT SUBJUNCTIVE.
