Computer Concepts and Applications I
Course Description:
Students in this course will learn to use computers as a tool in conjunction with related software and operating systems. Topics included are keyboarding and proofing, computer terminology, Microsoft Office 2003 and the Internet. This course will provide you with a life skill that you will value throughout your secondary and post secondary educational careers and beyond.
Homework: The week of September 21 we will complete the letters/memos packet and begin working on the lengthy documents packet. Students will find the daily assignments on the board and should plan on spending about 48 minutes outside of class in the library or in room 2302 to catch up when absent.
Accounting I
Course Description: This course will instruct students on how to keep and maintain the financial records of a business. This course if valuable to all students considering any type of business career. Students will develop abilities that will allow them to analyze, record, summarize, interpret and report financial information of a business. Students planning on majoring in business at the post-secondary level will find this course very helpful.
Homework: We have a test on Chapter 4 on Wednesday and then we will work in Chapter 5 for the rest of the week. The second unit consists of learning the accounting cycle for a sole proprietorship, service business. Students will be completing chapter working papers, creating "my business" transactions and working with the Peachtree accounting program throughout this unit. Students who are absent from class need to contact me to create an alternative schedule to catch the student back up. This class moves relatively quickly and students will not want to get too far behind.
Fundamentals of Web Page Design
Course Description: This course is intended for the beginning web page designer. Every student enrolled in this class should have some PC experience, especially with Windows 2000, XP, NT, 98, or 95. Students will be introduced to the web development stages and will create a website using the following web technologies: basic HTML, XHTML, Macromedia DreamWeaver, Fireworks and Flash.
Homework: Students receive a weekly packet of work to complete on Mondays with a due date of Friday. Students should plan on spending extra time outside of class catching up on the packets when absences occur. The 1st quarter project is to follow instructions in the weekly packet to create a web page referred to as "design project".
