I have been teaching reading and language arts at Charleston Middle School for three years. I am originally from Iowa and taught six years before moving to Illinois. Nine years teaching in a middle school shows my love of working with this age group. The creativity, energy, and enthusiasm for learning that middle school students bring to school everyday makes my job as a teacher worthwhile. As a reading teacher, I hope to inspire students to find a love for reading through a variety of activities and units centered around various genres.
On a personal note, my husband coaches football at Eastern Illinois University. We have a beautiful baby girl who just turned 8 months. She is such a delight to us. I enjoy reading (of course), cooking, the outdoors, traveling to see familly, movies, and spending time with my husband and daughter.
Thanks for a great 2006-2007 year, gold team students! I will miss all of you. Have a great summer!
