LATIN
May 12,13, 15 and 16,2008

The time is finally here.  The Latin Banquet will take place on Friday, May 16, 2008.  At 10:30 the students will change into their Roman clothes.  I told them the easy way to make a toga is to take a sheet, put it under the left arm and tie or fasten in some way on the right shoulder.  Some kind of belt will help to keep the toga in place.  The students are to wear their toga over their gym uniform or over their summer school uniform.

At 11:00 the students will enter the gym and the world of the Roman Banquet.  The tables will be arranged in a large "U".  Students need to bring a pillow or some sort of comfort for the floor since they will be eating Roman style, that is, lounging as one eats.

During the banquet as in real Roman Banquets, entertainment will be provided by the students.  This year's Latin students have come up with some forms of entertainment different from previous years.  This should be great.

Each student will also come forward and identify themselves:  1.  By Roman Name
             2.  By stating their title
             3.  By explaining their symbol.

I know that the students have been working hard on this project.

I would like to thank in advance all those parents who will be working on Friday to make this a great day for the 6th grade.  A special thanks goes out to Mrs. Childs for being the chairwoman of this activity. She has done much behind the scenes work.  God bless you all.

Deus benedicat te!
