Welcome to Mr. Asher's schoolnotes.

Central Alternative School

The I.S.S. room is located in the high school attendance office.

2008-2009 School Year

Tier 1 (I.S.S.) Requirements:

Students must come prepared with plenty of paper, pencils, all of their textbooks, and a library book to read. If a student comes to I.S.S. unprepared, additional days may be added.

Each morning I.S.S. begins with two assignments that must be completed before students may begin their regularly scheduled school assignments.  The first is to copy and sign the Tier 1 contract.  This is a list of rules and procedures students must follow in I.S.S. The second is a five paragraph essay assignment.  Students will be given a new topic each day. The essay must include at least five complete paragraphs.

The introduction must have a strong thesis statement.  Each of the body paragraphs must have suporting topic sentences.  The conclusion must close with a strong memorable statement.

The essay must then be edited by using the correct proofreading symbols.  Then, a final draft must be constructed.

The students must turn in both copies of their essay.

Again, students must complete both of these daily assignments before they begin their regular scheduled school work sent by their classroom teachers.

Student are expected to follow a daily class schedule which is posted in the I.S.S. classroom. It is in the order of their regular school day. Time periods are given in I.S.S. for hours one through seven.

There is no "free time" in I.S.S.  When students finish all of their assigned work, they are expected to read their library book.

The I.S.S. teacher may also assign extra work to make sure the learning process continues throughout the entire school day.

Tutoring services are available each morning in the I.S.S. room from 7:10-7:40.  All students are welcome.

Any questions about the TIER 1 (I.S.S.) program may be directed to Mr. Asher at 431-4313.
