Mrs. Hare's 6th grade reading class is studying strategies for reading nonfiction. The strategies learned will help us in our science and social studies classes throughout the year. Next week, we will be taking the Gates McGinitie Reading test and the following week the Standford 10. Most of our work will be in class for the next several weeks. The students should be reading outside library books and working toward their reading circle certificate. 6th grade students need to read 14 fiction books and 8 nonfiction books for their ceritficate.
SCIENCE
Our science classes have been working hard on learning the steps of the Scientific Method. Bubbles were flying in the classroom last week, and we are putting the finishing touches on our charts and graphs. From our charts and graphs, we will draw conclusions, write summaries, and decide if our hypothesis was true/false.
Next week, Sept. 10 the students will begin their environmental unit in science. We will be studying the ecosystems, levels of the environment, and many other interesting things in our big world!
The students will be traveling to the Discovery Center in November for activities with the Missouri Conservation Department.
