Happy New Year!
I am currently on medical leave resulting from the recent TDR (Total Disc Replacement) surgery involving my cervical spine. Many of you are aware of my long time struggle with degenerative disc disease. I miss my students so much, but I also know that the time and effort I will spend in rehabilitative therapy is necessary for my health and well being. "Short term pain for long term gain" is a phrase I have often quoted to my students. I will use this time away as an opportunity to put that into practice!
It delights me to know that my students are with a substitute as competent, capable, and caring as Mrs. Julie Cothern Mendel. I have known Julie since the mid 1970's when we became classmates at Mandeville Elementary School. We are both proud to claim being products of the awesome St. Tammany Parish School System!
