ALL GRADES: WEEKLY JOURNAL, 5 MINUTES A DAY.
Objectives: Grades 4th and 5th grade (1). Making change by counting on, read write and shade tenths sand hundredths expressed as decimals. (2). Tell whether and why the work shown for given problems is corret or not.
Objectives: 5th and 6th (1). Compute sums and differences mentally using the Commutative and Associative Properties of Addition, compatible numbers, and compensation, and by counting up. (2).Round whole numbers through millions and decimals through thousandths. (3). Use rounding front end estimation.
Activities: Grade 4 Students will be sellers and buyers. Students will price the items in dollar and cents amounts.
Grade6 Students will make hundreds and thousands with number cubes. A Matter of Money(materials : play money/teaching tool 7). Picture a Decimal (materials: Decimal models-tenths and hundreds grid).
Technology: Internet, Overhead, Elmo, Calculators, Active Slate
Assessments: Newspaper Estimation-Sept.23, Making a Chart which shows enrollment statistics for our school, round each number, and answer assigned questions pertaining to rounding-Sept.26 Quiz-Diagnostic Check Point-Sept.30.

PARENTS WILL LEARN HOW TO USE/NAVIGATE THE ON LINE READING AND MATH SERIES, LA PASS, AND NEWTON'S CLASS ROOM.
I WILL SOON RECEIVE AN ELMO, PROJECTOR, AND ACTIVATE THE ACTIVE SLATE, ALL TO BE USED TO ENHANCE LEARNING, AND WARRANT MORE ENGAGEMENT.
