Spelling Words: Test on Thursday.

Reading focus skill: vowel variants /o/ aw and au (gh)

Reading vocabulary: assembled, guide, dangerous, intense, lightning, reflects, surface

Language skill: contractions

Phonics skill: words with the letters au, aw, and all

Math skills: calendar math, solving word problems, measurement


HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS: WRITE ON LOOSELEAF OR IN YOUR HOMEWORK NOTEBOOK.  WRITE A HEADING.

Monday:  Write one sentence with each of the following contractions: can’t, don’t, hasn’t, aren’t, hadn’t, weren’t, isn’t, and haven’t
Circle the contraction in each sentence.

Tuesday:  Complete the Math worksheet.

Wednesday: Take a practice Spelling test.

Thursday:  Complete the reading comprehension sheet.

Friday: Have a fantastic weekend!

***May 20th @ 2:15: Class party! We’ll just go outside, have some fun, and then return to the room for ice-cream sundaes. Please contact Mrs. Yeadon if you can help organize the sundae supplies. Send in a note if you can do so and I’ll send it home with Armand. Thanks!!!

***May 21st: Last day of school!!!!!!!!!!! Half-day for the kids!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reading

Reading skill: We’ll be reviewing skills taught previously. The students will complete a scavenger hunt of questions based on skills taught by looking throughout their readers for the answers.

Language

Language skills: Journal writing will be the focus this week.

Theme Review Test on Wednesday!
Skills assessed:
using the verbs of:  see, saw, give, gave, come, run, came, ran, go, do, went, and did
helping verbs: have, has, and had
contractions using n’t

Phonics: No new skill this week!

Math

Math skills: Reviewing previously taught skills, continuing study of measurement with volume, pounds, ounces, grams and kilograms, and probability

Monday: Write the Spelling Words in ABC order by yourself.  Remember to look at the second letter if the first letters are the same in two words.

Tuesday:  Write a paragraph about the Harvey Rabbit performance. What did you learn? What was your favorite part? Why?

Wednesday: Complete the language worksheet.

Thursday: Complete the math worksheet.

Friday: Have a wonderful weekend!

****Refer to the refrigerator reminders for May events! This is on a yellow piece of paper and was sent home last week.

***End of the Year Party: May 20th @ 2:15! We’ll go outside to have some fun and return to the classroom to enjoy an ice cream sundae. Please send in a note if you can assist Mrs. Yeadon with the sundae ingredients. Thanks!!

***May 21st: Half day for the kids!!!! Report cards will be mailed! Please be sure that any outstanding lunch balances or monies owed for any reason are settled before the end of the year. Report cards will not be mailed if there are any outstanding balances.
