All art students are busy making "Native Masks". We have been using Paper-Mache to create the mask form. Starting this week we begin to decorate the masks. Art II students will use all kinds of different things to create textured patterns on their masks they will then be painted and rub and buffed giving masks a metallic look. Art I students will create texture and patterns using only natural materials such as rocks, leaves, shells, acorn tops, leaves, etc. Both can use natural material to make hair (moss, bark, etc.).

ART and CONSUMER SCIENCE DEPARTMENTS are having a Valentines Fundraiser-Valentine Candy Grams. They will sell for $1.00 ( Valentine Card and Heart Sucker). They will be delivered Friday in 8th Hour. If you would like to surprise your student with a Valentine at school just come by or send to office: money for card, who to, who from, and what you want card to say. Please put Attention Art Department on envelope.
We will be having an art exhibit at the Acadiana Arts Council the first two week in March. Please put on your calender Saturday March 14th 6pm-9pm. This is the Lafayette Art Walk and your student's work will be on display with some of the best artist in this area. You will be sent a special invitation and reminders!
If your student did not bring in his/her art supplies (paper towels, baby wipes, and kleenex) please do so now.
When using messy mediums we go through at least 3 boxes of baby wipes a day! Cold season demands more kleenex etc.
