The students will relate the fraction-strip model to the part-whole interpretation of fractions and to the symbolic representation of fractions.
The students will understand the meaning of fractions larger than a whole.
The sudents will use fraction strips and symbolic representations of fractions to describe real-world situations.
The students will investigate the concepts of comparison and equivalence of fractions.
The students will apply knowledge gained by using fraction strips to name, estimate, and compare fractions to find equivalent fractions.
