Highlight for the week of

Nov. 30th - Dec. 4th, 2009.

Dear parents,

Last Wednesday, your first graders were treated to a "Thanksgiving Dinner" provided by our room moms, Mrs. Falgout and Mrs. Roper.  Everyone enjoyed the chicken nuggets, cornbread, and pumpkin pie.  Thank you Mrs. Falgout and Mrs. Roper.  You are so awesome!

Your first grader was also treated to an ice-cream party for being the grade level to have the least lunch detentions for this quarter.  Please continue to remind your first grader that it pays to make good choices.

If you have not turned in the permission slip for your first grader to be featured in our online newsletter, please do so as soon as possible.  Your prompt action is greatly appreciated.

Your first grader also went home with information regarding the H1N1 Immunization Program.  Please do not send the consent form to school.  Bring the consent form with you to the immunization site.

Casa Ole has teamed up with Milton's AR program to provide an ongoing reading incentive for our students. Each child should have received a Casa Ole bookmark that reminds them of the awards. As students read the required books (books within their ZPD) and earn points, they qualify for prizes. The reward is not tied to any particular reporting period. Once a student has reached any level of points they may visit Casa Ole to collect their prizes.

To collect prizes, they are required to:
1. Present their Casa Ole bookmark.
2. Provide a copy of the AR points earned. Students can visit the library for a print our of this information.

Your first graders have been learning about letter writing. One of the skills they will be learning is how to address the envelope.  Please assist your first grader to write his/her address on a piece of paper, and send it to school with them. You might want to use this as a teacheable moment so that they would know the importance of knowing their own addresses.

If you did not have a chance to order the yearbook, this year you can order our Milton yearbook with your credit card through Jostens. If you press on this link, it will take you directly to a secure server to make your purchase. http://jostensyearbooks.com/?REF=A03089400

Have a wonderful week.
Happy Thanksgiving.

Ms. Phillips
