Each week, your child will bringing home 1 or 2 reading books in their "Leapin' Good Take Home Books" envelope. Please listen as your child reads their stories to you and ask them questions about what they have read to check for comprehension. Also, in your child's binder, you will find a list of "WORDS TO KNOW" (Theme 9 Week 2) in a clear sheet protector. Please listen to your child read these words every night. They will be tested on them each Friday. 

In Math this week, we will continue with Unit 5:  STRATEGIES FOR ADDITION AND SUBTRACTION  Focus 5:4 Addition and Subtraction as Inverse Operations. Students will learn to recognize and apply addition and subtraction facts as inverse operations..."FACT FAMILIES". We will use activities on the ACTIVBOARD for extra practice.

The students will bring home their SPELLING TABLET along with a "Classroom Express" which will have the word list and homework assignments for each night during the week. MONDAY: Write words 3 times and sentences 3 times. TUESDAY: Make your own sentence with each word and write each sentence 1 time.  WEDNESDAY: Put your spelling words in ABC order and write each sentence 1 time.  THURSDAY:  Take a "Practice Test" (words and sentences) in your tablet and have it signed by your parent. The SPELLING TABLET and Classroom Express will go home every night for the students to finish the work started in class. On Friday, the students will be given a Spelling Test for a grade

 

This week in Science, we will begin our studies on MAGNETS.  The students will identify materials attracted by magnets, determine through experimentation which poles of magnets are attracted to each other, and which poles repel each other. ACTIVBOARD activities will also be used to make learning more meaningful AND fun.
