I would like to thank you for your endless support and love. Your children are wonderful and a blessing in our daily lives. Please check your child's planner for daily homework and assignments.

     We have an open door policy. If you need to have a conference with me, please call the school at 856-5826 and I'll return your call as soon as possible. 

     Graded papers go home every Tuesday.  Please look over your child's papers, sign them, and return them the following day. 


Language Arts for the week of May 11th - 15th

Colin, Roberto, Candace, & Kourtlyn are working in " Level C " Language Arts Book. Abbreviating Proper Nouns; Using Commas in sentences; Using Apostrophes to show ownership.  Students will also have a daily review of cumulative language skills.

Spelling words for this week are aligned with the Rigby Reading Series and can be found by clicking on the "Flash Card" link at the top of the page. Students will have a test on 10 spelling words on Friday.  

Spelling dictation tests are given weekly. Students should be studying their spelling words on a daily basis, and using them in complete sentences.

* The LAST day to AR test is Friday, May 8th!!!!!!  

 Students should be reading orally each and every evening for 30 minutes. Students can read the story we are reading together in class, or they can read from their AR books. Students must meet their AR reading goals each nine weeks. Kourtlyn, Colin, Candace, and Roberto must each earn 10 AR points for this nine weeks. Keep up the Great Reading!

The academic curriculum is difficult and time consuming in the resource classroom.  Student need to be held accountable for reading some of their AR books at home. 

We are reading in the Rigby Reading Series.  Students are reading the books How Do You Sleep? and Clay Creatures.  Please listen to your child read orally to you each night.

Phonics: "ar" words and words with "cl" blends.

Sipps is a Systematic Instruction in Phoneme Awareness, Phonics, and Sight Words which we are utilizing in our classroom each day in addition to the new Rigby Reading Series. We are working in the "Extension Level" of the SIPPS series.  This week we will be working on Lesson 20 words, sounds, and skills.  Sipps Story "What Will Cat Do?". 

 
 
 

Math Skills for Colin, Candace, and Kourtlyn for the week of May 11th - 15th are as follows:  Comparing and Ordering Decimals; Adding and Subtracting Numbers with Decimals; Adding and Subtracting Prices of Items on a Menu; and Ren Math Skills. Quizzes will be given throughout the week. 

Math Skills taught this week for Christian are as follows:  Dividing Whole Numbers by Fractions; Dividing Fractions by Fractions; Review and Test on Chapter 19 (Division of Fractions); and Ren Math Skills. Quizzes will be given throughout the week.

Students should be spending approximately 10 minutes each evening reviewing their math facts at home with the aid of flash cards, computer games or any other imaginative ways. Please assist your child with these skills.
