Language Arts for the week of May 19- May 23
Students in grade 5 will be working on Pronouns in Unit 11. Lessons 6 and 7 on possessive pronouns and using I and me correctly will be introduced this week.
Students in grades 1-4 are writing sentences in the correct word order, and combining the subject and predicate of a sentence.
Students in grade 5 are currently working on Unit 35 in spelling. Unit 35 words are spelled with ough or augh. Students will have a test on 14 words on Thursday.
Students in grades 1-4 are learning words from Unit 34. Unit 34 words have or and ore, also known as r-controlled words.
Spelling dictation tests are given weekly. Spelling test will be given on Thursday. Students should be studying their spelling words on a daily basis.
Spelling words can be found each week by clicking on the "Flash Card" link at the top of the page.
Students should be reading orally each and every evening for 30 minutes. Students can read the story we are reading together in class, or they can read from their AR books. Students must meet their AR reading goals each nine weeks. Keep up the Great Reading!
Sipps is an intensive systematic phonics/reading program that we are implementing in our classroom.
The Milton School Library will be opened this summer from 4-7 p.m. on the following dates for AR testing.
June 5th, June 12th, June 19th, June 26th, July 10th, July 17th, July 24th, July 31
Students in Grades 4-5 will be working on Prime and composite numbers, and finding the perimeter.
Students in Grades 1st through 3rd will be working on fractions.
Students should be spending approximately 10 minutes each evening reviewing their math facts at home with the aid of flash cards, computer games or any other imaginative ways. Please assist your child with these skills.
