I would like to thank you for your endless support and love. Your children are wonderful and a blessing in our daily lives. Please check your child's planner for daily homework and assignments.

 We have an open door policy. If you need to have a conference with me, please call the school at 856-5826 and I'll return your call as soon as possible.

* Graded papers go home on Terrific Tuesdays.  Please look over your child's papers, sign them, and return them the following day. 

* Thanksgiving Holidays = Monday, November 23rd - Friday, November 27th.


Week of November 16 - 20:

Language:  Skills covered this week are identifying PLURAL NOUNS ending with "s".

Spelling:  Unit 15: Words with the long vowel i sound spelled with "y" as in by and "i-consonant-e" as in nice, found on textbook pages 92 - 97. Please check your child's planner daily for spelling homework, and a list of spelling words. *Spelling Words can be found on line by clicking on the flashcard link at the top of schoolnotes page.

Handwriting/Language K: Writing upper and lower case letter "Ll". Language/Phonics = Beginning sounds for letter "L" as in lips.

Spelling/Phonics K: Phonemic Awareness = initial consonant "L" sound and spelling words: lips, leg, look, lid, and love. Writing capital letter "L" and lower case "l".



Week of November 16-20:

Reading: Students will be reading the Non-Fiction Story called "The Mighty Mississippi" from the Rigby Reading Series. Go over vocabulary words daily with your child and read the story at home nightly.  Reading Assessment will be given on Friday.

SIPPS: SIPPS Phonetic Program: Extention Level. Phonics Skills: New sounds: "igh", "kn" and "wr". New Sight Words for the week: "picture, eye, busy"

Reading K: Students will be reading from the Rigby Reading Series, Level A, "On My Block".  Please read the story with your child nightly and go over the vocabulary cards in their packet.

* Students should be reading orally each and every evening for 30 minutes. Students can read the story we are reading together in class, or they can read from their AR books. Students must meet their AR reading goals each six weeks. Keep up the Great Reading!

Week of November 16 - 20:

MATH: Students are working in Chapter 5: The skills covered this week are as follows: Addition Skills: Use make a ten strategy to find sums to 18, Use strategies to find the sums of three addends, and Solve doubles and doubles plus one facts.

Students should be spending approximately 10 minutes each evening reviewing their math facts at home with the aid of flash cards, computer games or any other imaginative ways. Please assist your child with these skills.

Week of November 16 - 20:

Social Studies/Science: The students will be working in the Science Text, Chapter 10: ENERGY: Lessons 4 - 5 on Heat Energy and Light Energy.
