Weekly Skills
Fifth Grade Weekly Agenda
December 8-12
English Language Arts
The students will use various fix-up strategies to decode unfamiliar words in texts. Discuss cause and effect in stories. Discuss bibliographic information from notes taken on social studies topic. Vocabulary words are environment, niche, camouflage, transparent, and conserve. The students will have a reading cold passage Friday in ELA. Please make sure the students are reading for 20 minutes every night and completing their reading logs. Vocabulary test will be next Friday.
Math
This week we will convert between units of measurement for length, weight, and time, in US and metric, within the same system. Compare the relative sizes of common units for weight and mass. Test Thursday.
Social Studies-
This is a science week. The students will continue to complete note cards to gather information for social studies project.
Science- Science quiz Tues. on cycles of life. The students will identify, describe, and compare climate zones.
Reminders-
Sign papers and notes will go home on Tuesdays in their white folders. Friday is Test Day unless told otherwise!!!
