Welcome to our website. We are so excited that you have chosen to visit! This website is designed so that we can share what's happening in our classroom with our family and friends.  As you explore our site, you can read about special events and learning that is taking place, view cool projects that we do, meet our classmates, and even find other cool educational websites that we can use at home. We hope that by visiting our classroom website, you will get a better idea of what we do each day.  Enjoy your journey!
Announcements!! 
*Don't forget to turn in your child's class picture money. Also students were given a notice from the library about their overdue books. Please make sure you remind your child to bring library books back to school.

Driver of the Week

I would like to take this time to congratulate Colton for being selected as our Driver of the Week. Colton is a wonderful student who is extremely hardworking, courteous, funny, and he has a VERY strong love for cars. He is definately a great student that I'm very lucky to have in my class. Keep up the GREAT work!!!!
Reading 
This week we are studying our theme The Early Americas. This theme discusses how Native Americans use nature and their surroundings in everyday life. Our comprehension strategy for this theme is Making Connections and Reviewing asking Questions. We will also be reviewing our previous reading strategies along with these.   
Vocabulary Words:
anniversary, valuable, civilization, passage, historian
In Reading, we will also be studying about biographies and autobiographies. Students will learn the important concepts of this type of nonfiction writing that will allow them to be able to write their own autobiographies.
Our Grammar skill this week is pronouns.
READING HOMEWORK:
Each night: Students must read their A.R. books for 20 minutes each night. Students will now be required to take at least one A.R. test each week

Spelling 
This week in spelling we will be studying words that are abbreviations. Each week students will be assessed on their spelling list, no excuse words, and challenge words.

Monday: Words 3x's each
Tuesday: Seperate abbreviations from original word. Students have an example.

Social Studies
This week in Social Studies we are beginning our unit on economy. We will be learning about how important our economy is. Students will be introduced to the terms they must know. We will also be concentrating on how natural resources, human resources, and capital resources play a major part in our economy. We will also be completing our unit on how inventors have played a major role in our country.  
SOCIAL STUDIES HOMEWORK:
Don't forget to turn in your sales paper.

Citizens of the Month
Each month, the students vote for our class Citizen of the Month. They select students that they feel are respectful, well behaved, courteous, etc. These students are sent to the library every Tuesday to speak for morning announcements. These students are also awarded for their outstanding performance at school.  I would like to introduce you to our 2008-2009 Citizens of the Month.
