Dear Parents,
As you know, the Waxed Museum is this Friday. We would like to invite all of you to attend. We will be doing this at 9:00 Friday morning. Your child has researched their famous Oklahoman here at school and at home. They are to come dressed as their character, and have their one minute speech memorized. If your child would like to bring a change of clothes, I will give them time to change after the museum. This will be a fun event where our kids can be creative and show us a little bit about what they have learned about some amazing people from our home state. Thank you for all you do to help your child!!!!

Dear Parents,
We are asking all students to bring water bottles to school starting tomorrow. The water fountains in the halls have been closed down for now. Please remind your child to wash their hands after using the bathroom, and not to share food, drinks, etc. with any other classmates. Thank you so much.

Dear Parents,
I wanted to send a few reminders. Tomorrow is the field trip. Please remember to send a sack lunch with your child. We have some parents that have said this week that they would like to come on the field trip. We are excited to have all of the parents that would like to come. Due to the large amount of planning that it takes for a trip like this, the groups were assigned last week. If you are not assigned a group, you will go with your child and the group that they have been assigned to. We are asking that all parents meet here at the school at 8:30. Your child will need to ride the bus, and you will need to come in your own car. You will also need to bring a sack lunch for yourself. All of the information that you need will be given to you in the morning when you arrive. The landrun is then on Friday. The fourth grade will eat lunch at 12:20. Some of the groups are wanting to bring pizza, or something like that for their child's group. You can bring the food between 12:00 and 12:20. If you have any other questions concerning Thursday or Friday please feel free to e-mail me.
Thank you,
Julie Rickner

Dear Parents,
We are looking forward to an exciting and busy week next week with the field trip on Thursday, and the land run on Friday. Thank you to all of you that are helping either with the field trip or land run. The fourth grade team was looking at what was still needed for the land run, and this is what we came up with. We could still use cheddar cheese, corn bread, and beef jerky. We are also very short on parent volunteers, especially in the morning. We could use more volunteers from 9:30 to 11:30. Thank you so much for your willingness to help!!!

Dear Parents,
I wanted to send a reminder that tomorrow the class will be making their salt dough maps of Oklahoma. This is a fun activity that I want all to be able to participate in. Please have them bring their salt dough in tomorrow. The recipe was sent home earlier this week.
Thanks,

Dear Parents,
I wanted to thank you all so much for making Friday such a special day for me. I turned the dreaded 40 (ha, ha) on Saturday. Andrea, Rylie B's mom came up with cupcakes, I was sung to several times, and showered with gifts. You are a special group. On another note, as you know, testing is next week. I am sending home practice test booklets with your child today. I didn't get them out yesterday like I had mentioned in the newsletter. These are for you and your child to go over together to give them one more opportunity to be ready for next week. We are working hard in class with test prep also. Testing is next Tuesday and Wednesday. Please make every effort to make sure your child is here, unless sick of course. I would also like to have a snack for the children each day. I need two parents to volunteer to send healthy snacks for Tuesday and Wednesday. Last year we had things like cheese cubes, crackers, bottled water, and juice drinks. We just want to stay away from things loaded up with sugar. Thanks ahead of time for helping with this. Have a great week.

Dear Parents,
We are almost to our break!!! I know the kids are looking forward to Spring Break. We need to take care of a couple things before we get to relax!! All Pre-Enrollment packets are due tomorrow. Please do your best to get those back to me tomorrow. If you have already turned it in, thank you!!! Also, the fourth grade team is needing to do a group plan for the month of March on Tuesday the 24th. I need a parent volunteer to have the class from 11:00 to 12:30. Thank you to Mrs. Rosen for helping me out for the group plan in February. I would like to know who can help out by tomorrow if possible, since the 24th is only one day after we will have returned from Spring Break. Sorry for the late notice, we just decided that this needed to be done today during our weekly plan time. Thanks again for all that you do! I have truly enjoyed my group of parents this year!!! You are all so very supportive in many ways.

Dear Parents,
The fourth grade team has been approved to have a planning day next Friday. This gives us some extra time to plan, and with the land run coming up, it will be very helpful. We had one other plan this year. We will need to have a parent that is willing to help out by watching the class for me for an hour and half. If you would be willing to help out next Friday from 11:00 to 12:30, please send me an e-mail.
Thanks for all of your support!

Dear Parents,
I sent some notes home on Friday that I just wanted to let you know about. We have been reading the book The Indian in the Cupboard. I am wanting to have them watch the movie on Friday as a treat. Since it is rated PG I need to have parental consent. Your child should have come home with a permission slip Friday. Please have them send it in as soon as possible. I will be out Thurs., and Fri. of this week and want to have my plans ready for the substitute. Also, the children have been asked to decorate a Valentine's Box at home for our party on the 13th. We will be having some activities and contests involving the boxes. Thanks so much and have a great week!!!

Dear Parents,
Thank you to all of you that sent things for our Thanksgiving Bedlam Bash on Tuesday. Any other items that you would like to donate, we would be happy to accept on Monday. We are looking forward to Tuesday being a very fun day!!!! Our class hasn't received any red hots, colored construction paper, cookies, and bottled water. It looks like we are good on cheetos.
Thanks again so much!!!! Also, I mentioned at the start of the year that I would put things on the wish list on my web site when things came up. We have reached that time of year when a few things have come up that we are in need of. As our class receives them, I will take them off of the website. There are just a few things that I have put on there today. Thank you for all of your help!!!

Dear Parents,
We are very excited about our Informance over the 50 states tomorrow. We would ask that your child wear a red, white, or blue shirt, and jeans. We are will be doing the Informance twice tomorrow, at 10:15, and then 6:30. We will start with an open house in the classroom, so that your child can show you what they have learned. We will then go on to the gym at 7:00 for the Informance.
On another note, I need to ask for help from one parent that would be willing to help out as a sub in the class Friday from 1:10 to 3:30. If this is something that you would be interested in, please let me know by e-mail.
Thank you,
Julie Rickner

Dear Parents,
Today your child is coming home with a note regarding supplies that they will need by Friday. I'm sorry for a change, but they will not need the binder pockets, we've decided to do something different. They will need a large white poster, and two large grocery type paper bags. We are also in need of several rolls of clear packaging tape. We would appreciate any donations of the tape. We will be starting next week on our preparations for the informance. We will be studying all of the states, and our class is focusing on the Southeast Region. Also, spirit ribbons will be for sale this week. The dollar is due tomorrow, Thurs., and the ribbons will be handed out on Friday.
Have a great night!

Dear Parents,
I wanted to advise you of a change for this week. We will have the open book Social Studies test on Friday instead of Thursday this week. Please encourage your child to take their time to look up the answers in their books.
Also, we are needing four binder pockets with tabs per child. We will be putting these in a folder for writing. If you could send those with your child to school by next Monday that would be helpful.
Thank You,
Julie Rickner

Dear Parents,
Hi, I hope that everyone is having a great week. We are starting something exciting here at Rose Union that I wanted to let you know about. We will be having a Special Olympic Coin/Dollar Drive during Rendezvous. We go to Rendezvous on Fridays, and the Drive will start this Friday. During the month of October we will be having an OU vs. OSU contest. This competition will also include Prairie Vale and Deer Creek Elementary. Go RU!!!! Have your kids bring their loose change Friday.
On another note, I wanted to let you know something about our schedule this year. I realize that we all have dentist appointments, etc. that make it necessary to check our children out early at times. However, the way that we have had to do our schedule this year makes checking out early very often a difficult thing. Our class is in with Mrs. Stone for Math from 2:30 to 3:30. Needing to check children out early occasionally is no problem, but Mrs. Stone and I would greatly appreciate it if it wasn't a regular thing. Math concepts advance quickly, and we hate to see anyone fall behind.
Thank you very much for your support.

Dear Parents,
I have just a couple of reminders. Tomorrow is the day that Ident-a-Kid will be here. Make sure to return the envelope if you are interested in your child getting cards made.
I did not send home a reading homework sheet this week. We are reading a novel this week, and are reviewing the spelling words from the last 5 weeks. Friday's spelling test will be long. I will pick 50 words from the past 5 reading weeks. I sent home a list of all of the spelling words from the past 5 weeks on Tuesday. Tomorrow we will be having a Social Studies test over chapter 1. We did a study guide together in class today, and that was to go home with them in their Bear Binders. I decided after school today that I will let them use their books as well as their study guides, so you can let your child know if they are feeling nervous about the test tomorrow. Thank you for the opportunity to teach your children. I am enjoying each and every child in my class!!!!

Dear Parents,
I wanted to let you know that my web page is having some technical difficulties. I tried to update it Friday after school, and wasn't able to update the vocabulary or newsletter page. I have been in contact with the technology department, and it will hopefully be up and running by Wednesday.
The vocabulary words are as follows: endless, realistic, universe, astronaut, sensible, protested, and paralyzed.
I am looking forward to another good week. Feel free to e-mail me with any concerns or questions that you may have.

Dear Parents,
I wanted to take the time to brag on your kids!!! Yesterday they worked very hard and really started to show me that they are up for the challenge of being responsible fourth graders!!!!
I wanted to let you know about a few things that will start this week. Today your child will come home with a reading record. I showed this to everyone on Back to School Night. They will be keeping record of what they read, and how much. I also wanted to inform you of how I will be handling missing papers. I have told the class about this, and that it will start this week. I will be sending home a missing papers note on Friday with any assignments that were not handed in by Friday of that week. If the papers are completed and brought back on Monday, they will be able to receive a 70 for the work. If the work is not handed in on Monday, then the grade will be a 0. Hopefully I will not have to send very many of these notes home. This is my way of giving everyone a second chance, but also expecting them to complete work on time.
Finally, we are very excited about Grandparents Day this Friday. Our class will be having our special time with grandparents at 11:00, until around 12:00. Our homeroom mom, Andrea has already contacted many of you to bring cookies and punch. Thank you to all of you that are helping make this a special day for the kids and the grandparents. Thank you for all of your support!!

Dear Parents,
Thank you so much for all of you that came last night to parent night. I know that there were some of you that had conflicts, and I appreciate you letting me know. Those of you that weren't able to make it will be getting a folder with information in it with your child today. Please check their back packs for the folder. After looking through the information, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to e-mail me. If you would like to talk over the phone please e-mail me with your phone number and I will call you as soon as I get a chance. My website is going to be the best way to obtain information regarding what is going on in our class. We also stressed last night that the agendas need to be signed nightly by you. Thank you so much for your support. I am looking forward to a great year!!!!
