I emailed this to you today:

Good Afternoon!  I have so much to tell you that I thought I would send it in an email just in case.  So get ready to read:
•    Antler Day is tomorrow from 9:30 – 11:00 for our class.  Please let your child bring a hat and good shoes for playing outside (not fancy ones, but ones that can get some action!).    Your child may also get a little wet so make sure that they are okay to get a bit dirty with the clothes that they wear.  The cafeteria is serving sack lunches tomorrow.  I only had 2 kids tell me that they are ordering from the cafeteria (Kamryn and Anna) so everyone else needs to bring their own lunch tomorrow.  BRING A SACK LUNCH TO SCHOOL TOMORROW.  We will eat in the cafeteria but it will be sack lunches.
•    Yearbooks are being distributed today.  We are making a book in the room that will allow for signatures.  If you want your child to get signatures in their yearbook, they may bring them back to school tomorrow.
•    TOMORROW and WEDNESDAY – We will be watching HOOT on those 2 days.  Please make sure that you have signed the permission skip allowing your child to watch the movie.  If you want you may also email me permission in lieu of signing the slip.  If I don’t get permission from you, they will not be allowed to watch the movie.
•    Thursday – LAST DAY OF SCHOOL - Instead of eating in the cafeteria we are going to have a pizza party in the classroom.  The party will be from 12 to 1.  Mrs. Schultheis has asked for a couple of dollars to cover the cost of pizza and drinks.  Please send that in as soon as possible.  There are 2 graduations taking place that day – kindergarten and 5th.  If your child will be attending that with you, please make sure that they bring a note if you want me to send them down to meet you in the gym at the appropriate time.
•    THANKS!  I will get emotional if I write too much but I want you to know how AWESOME of a year I have had.  I am sad to see our time end, but on the other hand, so excited to see your child grow and flourish in 4th grade.  Please let me know if you need anything.  I would love to stay in touch. I would love you to stop by before the last day so that we may see each other one last time.  Thanks for making my first year teaching in a portable so comforting and manageable.  WE DID IT!  I am so proud of each child and how much they have grown this year.  I am very sad that Thursday is the last day but I know that each child has a special place in my heart.  I wish you all the best!!!
Have a great week!  I am sure that I left off something so I will let you know if anything else pops up! 

AR goals

We set a class goal to earn 110 points these 9 weeks with AR.  Our class has almost doubled that.  As a reward, we are going to watch the movie Hoot next week.  The movie is rated PG, so I will be sending home a permission slip this week.  I will include some helpful reviews of the movie and then allow you to make the choice for your child.  I will understand either way, and will have something planned if you decide that you don’t want them to see it.

Thanks for all the wonderful class gifts during Teacher Appreciation Week.  The lunches were great and so were the cookies.  I love the towel, flip flops, flowers, and kitchen supplies.  Thanks for thinking of me!  I felt much appreciated!

Hope that you have a wonderful week!  Talk with you soon!

Happy Rainy Monday!  I love that it decided to rain right after lunch and on the way to Specials!   I hope that you had a fun weekend!  I can’t believe that there are only a few more weekends before summer!  This week we are going to:
•    complete a spelling contract
•    start unit 9 in math (multiplication and division extensions)

•    practice our remaining math facts with Super kids Math on Tuesday and Thursday
•    continue learning Spanish during language arts (this week will include colors, places around town, greetings/introductions, and items in our classroom)
•    visit the library on Friday
•    and enjoy the land run on Friday with a sack lunch we bring from home.

LITERACY CENTERS

I am sending the checklist your way!  Please let me know if you have any questions!  I am excited to see them complete the last set of centers!!!

VOLUNTEER BREAKFAST

I would love to see you in the morning at our Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast!  You deserve a “thanks” for making this year so much easier and a joy for me with all the help you have given me!  If you are able to attend, please show up tomorrow at 8:15 in the library.  If you can’t make it – THANKS!  Thanks for everything you have contributed this year!  I can’t begin to tell you how much each and every one of you have meant to me!

LAND RUN

The fourth grade has invited us to watch their version of the land run on Friday at 12.  Because of this, the cafeteria is providing sack lunches that day.  An order form went home last week.  I already had to place turn in our order.  If you didn’t order a sack lunch already you are to make sure that your child has a sack lunch for Friday.  Pizza will not be served.

4-20-09

Good Afternoon!  What a beautiful day!  I hope that all is well!  I am so excited for this week (especially Friday).  We are going to tell the 3rd graders the fun news Thursday afternoon!  I am so excited to see their expressions!  I will try and bring my camera and take some pictures.  Besides the fun Friday event, here are some of the things that we will accomplish this week:
•    spelling contract (test on Thursday)
•    read the story “Mother to Tigers” in our reading book and do some activities with the story
•    Work on a Trash to Treasure creation
•    study Spanish (includes days of the week, numbers, months, colors, clothes, places, etc.)
•    discuss suffixes and how they can change the meaning of words
•    take the OCCT tests for Math (Tuesday) and Reading (Wednesday)
•    enjoy some wonderful snacks provided by you the AWESOME parents
•    and really just enjoy our finals weeks together.

READING CONTRACT

We spent some time selecting a reading contract book today.  I really hope that you will notice that we tried to select a harder book.  I was very impressed with the desire to read a “not so typical” book.  Please have those read by next Monday.  We will begin our last set of centers.

TIDBITS

•    Remember the Carnival is on Thursday, April 30.  We will have our own booth!  There will be plenty of fun things to do!  Hope that you mark your calendar!  There will even be a chance to bid on me and a special trip that I will take with a child and a friend.
•    Remember you have been invited to a Thank You breakfast on Tuesday, April 28.  All of the staff would like to show our appreciation for all you have done this year.  We are having a breakfast for you in the library at 8.  Please let me know if you are able to attend.
•    Last week a half sheet note came home about the Land Run that the 4th grade will be putting on at school on Friday, May 1.  You were to select whether or not your child would order a sack lunch from the cafeteria that day.  I only received about half of them back.  If you haven’t turned the sheet in yet that is fine, but I need to let the cafeteria ladies know by Wednesday.  SO if it works for you, just email me and let me know if you will provide the lunch or if they will order one.  Thanks!
•    Book Orders are due by this Friday, April 24.  Online orders will accepted until that day too.
•    Remember that the Talent Show is coming!  Our show is scheduled for Thursday, May 7 at 1:30.  Please send in the signed permission slip forms if this is something that your child would like to participate in.  I believe that auditions are next week!
•    In Science this week, we are discussing the 3 R’s.  Your child will be making a creation out of reused items.  Please help your child select some items that they might be able to reuse and bring to school.  If you bring extra, we will share or donate to other classes.

TESTING

We will take the state tests next Tuesday and Wednesday morning.  Please make sure that your child is on time those days and has eaten a good breakfast.  We will only test during the morning, so please try to not schedule any appointments during those 2 mornings.  Mrs. Schultheis is working on an email to ask for “test snack” volunteers for those days. We will take a short break in between the tests and we usually like to provide some brain power for the kids in the form of some healthy snacks, so please be looking for an email or note to be coming your way shortly.
Please let me know if you are going to have your child absent either day.  I will let the office know and so that your child can make up their test/s.

ENROLLMENT

Remember that the field trip is next Friday, the 24th.  We are not telling the kids yet.  If you signed up to be a chaperone, a packet will be coming home in the near future explaining your role and letting you know which children will be in your group.  If you aren’t a chaperone, that is fine, but I will also send home some information about the field trip.  PLEASE REMEMBER TO KEEP THIS A SECRET!

Have an amazing week!  You deserve it!  Thank you so much for your amazing child!  I feel so blessed to have such a fun class!  I really look forward to coming to school everyday.  Please let me know if I can do anything for you!  Talk with you soon!

The Spelling contract will be coming home nightly and I will strongly suggest that any unfinished centers be brought home too.
