REMINDER:  Permission forms and money for our field trip to the TPS Ropes Course are due by Friday, Sept. 14.  If these are not received on time, the trip will be cancelled.

Vocabulary Introduction - Words from other languages.

We will continue to work on reference skills, using these words to study origins and derivations.  Homework is due at the beginning of class on Tuesday.

Tuesday 9/11

We will read "The Treasure of Lemon Brown" in class (pgs 93-101 in the textbook), and review the element of Character in literature.  This story continues our unit theme "We All Need Somebody to Lean On", emphasizing the influence of family and friends in our lives.

Wednesday and Thursday, 9/12-13
On these double-block days, students will be taking the Gates-MacGinitie Reading Evaluation.  This is administered at the beginning and end of each school year as we monitor the improvement in each student's vocabulary and reading comprehension skills.  

Friday, 9/14
Vocabulary quiz.

"The Treasure of Lemon Brown" quiz, covering comprehension and literary elements.
