Dear Parents/Guardians/Students,

Bienvenidos a la clase de español(Welcome).  Carver Middle School offers three levels of Spanish courses to the students: 8th Grade Full Year High School Credit Courses, 8th Grade Semester Courses, 7th Grade Semester Courses, and 6th Grade Quarter Courses.  Each course will expose the students to four skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking.  Please take note that at the top of this page there are available sites and flashcards that could be helpful to your student(s).  If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me: (e) mccunvi@tulsaschools.org OR (p) 925-1420.   I will try to return your messages as soon as possible.  Thank you for visiting the site.

GRADING POLICY:
Grades are based on daily assignments, quiz and test scores, projects, and classroom participation.  Some daily assignments will be worth a completion grade.  All other assignments/tests will receive a grade based on the following scale:

A 90%-100%  
B 80%-89%
C 70%-79%
D 60%-69%
F 0%-59%

Total Quarter Grade:
Homework      30%
Tests         30%
Quizzes       15%
Project       15%
Participation 10%

MAKEUP WORK POLICY:
Students will be given one day for every day absent to make up missed class work.  Tests must be made up as soon as possible within two weeks. It is the student’s responsibility to talk to the teacher about missed work and make arrangements to make up tests outside of class. Extended absences require the student to confer with the teacher to set a reasonable due date.  Long term assignments are due on the assigned date.  Multiple missing assignments will result in after school detention and/or other consequences.

Supplies: (should be brought to class each day)
~Time Management (purchase in the Carver bookstore)
~Pocket folder with brads
~Loose leaf paper
~Writing instruments: pencil, black/blue pen
~Book with cover
~Tissue box(1 per student)
~Recommendation for 8th grade H.S. credit: Spanish-English dictionary to be kept at home. (ex:  Merriam-Webster's Spanish-English Dictionary - approx. $6)

School Rules:
1.    Follow directions the first time given.
2.    Keep your hands, feet, and objects to yourself.
3.    Do not tease, make fun of another student, or use
        inappropriate language.
4.    Be on time to class and bring required materials.
5.    Do not disrupt class with loud or excessive talking.

The Elective Top 10 (Procedures):
1.    Greet the Teacher.
2.    Enter Quietly.
3.    Adhere to the three B’s.
•    Be on time
•    Be seated
•    Be on task
4.    Bring supplies needed for class. (Ex. Paper, pencil,
        textbook, TM).  No hall passes will be given.
5.    Copy Agenda on Monday
6.    No Backpacks
7.    Emergency Restroom pass requires 5 minutes lunch detention
        (includes the bathroom and water fountain)
8.    All school rules will be enforced, including dress code:

9.    No gum, candy or any edible items will be allowed.
10.    Homework Policy will be followed.
