What We're Doing!
Reading/Social Studies
Our Reading and Social studies will be combined as the students prepare to conduct the Third Grade Super Mall on Thursday!!
Marketplaces is a simplified course in economics. We will learn how communities use products and services and learn important vocabulary: wants and needs; supply and demand; goods and services; resources; scarcity; production; and interdependence. We will also simulate a business. The unit will culminate with our third grade "super" mall which will be operated by the students.
Requests for donations went home last week. Please send the requested items as soon as possible to make this unit successful.
THANK YOU!!
Spelling
Unit 35 - Contractions
We will have a class Spelling Bee this week.
The spelling list needs to go home every evening AND returned to school every day for use during spelling activities. The lists should be kept in your child's Take Home Folder. They will need these to study for the review test at the end of each six weeks.
Math
For the remainder of the year, we will focus on reviewing important third grade concepts. This will include solving word problems and practicing multiplicaton and division facts. We will also focus on preparing for fourth grade. We have already begun to learn 2-digit multiplicaton. We will extend addition and subtraction problems to include regrouping with 4-digit and higher problems.
Science
"Plants" and "Ecosystems" will be our final units of study in Science. We will learn what plants need to grow and how plants and animals live in different ecosystems.
WISH LIST
Thanks for all you do!!
If you know you will be signing your child out for an appointment, etc., please give me a heads-up. This will help me ensure they have turned in all assignments due and take with them anything they might need. You can email me, leave a message with the front office, or leave a voice mail on my room phone. Thanks!
Phone Numbers
Front office: 469-713-5989. My direct classroom number: 972-350-4836. This number will go directly to voicemail. It will not ring in the class during instruction time.
My email: watsonc@lisd.net
I will be listening to messages before school, during my conference time, and after school. If you need to get a message to your child or me, it is best to call the front office. My conference time is at the end of the day (2:00 - 2:50). Sometimes I do not have time to view emails until that time.
Please note that all school building doors are locked until 7:30 a.m. Teachers are not on duty prior to this time. This is a safety requirement. Thank you for understanding.
I am now registered with Schoolnotes.com. To receive my weekly notes go to Schoolnotes.com, enter the school's zip code (75022), find my name, click on Watson's Wild Word and my notes will appear. You can then register to receive email notification whenever I make a change to the notes. I will use Schoolnotes to let you know what we've been doing in class and to inform you of school and classroom events.
