Spelling
December 1 - 5 Unit 14
December 8 - 12 Unit 15
December 15 - 19 Unit 16
The spelling lists can be found in two places: the TAKE HOME FOLDER and THE PLANNER . Students write the word list in their planner each week!
The spelling list needs to go home every evening AND returned to school every day for use during spelling activities. The lists should be kept in your child's Take Home Folder. They will need these to study for the review test at the end of each six weeks.
Math
Multiplication is rolling. We are learning strategies for learning and solving multiplication facts. I have introduced vocabulary relevant to multiplication. We will continue learning more strrategies and vocabulary as we learn each of the multiples 0 - 12. I will keep you informed of your child's progress as the class begins the multiplication drills this week.
Science - Light Energy
The study of light energy begins December 8 and continues through the end of this six week period. Units covered include: How Light Travels; Light Reflects; Light Refracts; Colors; The Eye.
There will be a teacher demonstrated eye dissection toward the end of the unit.
WISH LIST
The students would appreciate more pencil top erasers.
Thanks for all you do!
If you know you will be signing your child out for an appointment, etc., please give me a heads-up. This will help me ensure they have turned in all assignments due and take with them anything they might need. You can email me, leave a message with the front office, or leave a voice mail on my room phone. Thanks!
Phone Numbers
Front office: 469-713-5989. My direct classroom number: 972-350-4836. This number will go directly to voicemail. It will not ring in the class during instruction time.
My email: watsonc@lisd.net
I will be listening to messages before school, during my conference time, and after school. If you need to get a message to your child or me, it is best to call the front office. My conference time is at the end of the day (2:00 - 2:50). Sometimes I do not have time to view emails until that time.
Please note that all school building doors are locked until 7:30 a.m. Teachers are not on duty prior to this time. This is a safety requirement. Thank you for understanding.
I am now registered with Schoolnotes.com. To receive my weekly notes go to Schoolnotes.com, enter the school's zip code (75022), find my name, click on Watson's Wild Word and my notes will appear. You can then register to receive email notification whenever I make a change to the notes. I will use Schoolnotes to let you know what we've been doing in class and to inform you of school and classroom events.
