** Sorry - forgot to delete one reading log message from last schoolnotes - This is same, minus that message!! Carry on!!***
Week of November 21, 2008 and into the week of 12/1…
I’d just like to express my wishes to you all for a safe and blessed Thanksgiving. I know that I have so very much to be thankful for, including the privilege to work with dedicated children and supportive families, as well as colleagues who make it a pleasure to come to school each day.
• A note from NURSE KAISER: If your child has any of the following, please keep them home for at leave 24 hours: vomiting, diarrhea, or a fever. If all follow these guidelines, we should be able to decrease the spread of these ailments. Thanks!!
• Please continue to sign your child’s planner each day – This is a very important communication tool.
• DON’T FORGET WE HAVE EARLY RELEASE ON TUESDAY – 1:30.
***REMINDER: 5th grade dedications for yearbook due Tues. Nov. 25th. The form should have gotten home on the 15th. Questions contact Ms. Johnson at johnsonso@lisd.net

TIME FOR KIDS – short-answer questions.
*** READING LOGS - FRIDAY ACADEMY FOR ANYONE MISSING READING LOG ON CHECKING DAY. YOUR CHILDREN HAVE THE DATES WRITTEN ACROSS THE TOPS OF EACH LOG – ON THE BOARD FOR SEVERAL DAYS IN A ROW.
** (EXTRA CREDIT READING LOG FOR THANKSGIVING BREAK!)
LANGUAGE (Mrs. Duff): We are ‘still’ studying nouns, and will be spending a little more time on possessive nouns, as this is tough work. Students will begin to complete a review for a nouns test – for next Thursday, 12/4. We will go over the review, mark pages for reference and study!!
(Begin process writing piece to tie in to Social Studies.)
SPELLING (Mrs. Duff): NO SPELLING QUIZ THIS WEEK! ☺ Unit 14, the week we return (Dec. 1-5).
SOCIAL STUDIES: (into week of 12/1)
We will be getting in to the tensions that lead up to the American Revolution. This is especially exciting for the children as they will begin to feel the impact personally what the colonists must have felt like. Please send your children to school on Monday, Dec. 1, with at least 25 pennies. They will be taxed for what have always been everyday basic rights in school… I will remind them.
USA Weekly – for week of 12/1 – read & questions due Friday.
Math (Mrs. Cash): (for week of 12/1)
This week in math we will have a fraction test (covering GCF, Simplest Form, Equivalent Fractions, Relating Decimals to Fractions and Adding/Subtraction Fractions) on Thursday. We will complete a detailed review in class on Tuesday. A "Math-4-Today" quiz will be given on Friday.
Science (Mrs. Cash): (for week of 12/1)
We will start our week out with an OPEN NOTE quiz on Monday dealing with tides, force and motion. On Tuesday we will discuss the seasons, day vs. night and more about eclipses. We will have a "Science Weekly" which will be due on Friday.
Upcoming dates to remember:

Have a wonderful week!!
