Reading-We will read A Cricket in Times Square. We will write postcards comparing city life to country life. We will do a math activity using t-charts called "crickets as thermometers." We will write a summary with a pop-up animation, and do taks skills posters that include inferencing skills.
Math-We will continue fractions by concentrating on fractions on a ruler, relating decimals to fractions and money, and adding and subtracting the decimals we have converted from fractions.
Spelling-unit 14 pretest Monday. Test on Friday.
Writing-We will review sentence structure through a matching game. We will write sentences using their, they're, and there. We will do a voice lesson using point of view and the story of Cinderella. We will make poster with the characteristics of a 1, 2, 3, and 4 paper on TAKS. We will give a prompt on Friday and have kids write using their tool boxes.
Science-We will begin chemistry! We will learn about solids, liquids, gasses, and polymers. We will learn about physical and chemical changes, and moecules. We will make collages, do a heat experimant over two days, and build gumdrop molecules on Friday. If anyone wants to donate bags of gumdrops (I will need a lot to have both science classes participate), I would surely appreciate it!
