It has been a great first week! Thanks for all of you for showing up at orientation and signing up on schoolnotes!!
Please read the letter going home today in your child's folder about the new class. Decisions will be made on Tuesday who will be transferred to the new class. It makes me sad to lose a few students but in the end it will be best for everyone!
Here is a quick view of what we will be studying next week:
Math- We will keep practicing our addition facts and playing games to review them. A timed test will be given on Friday. Please continue to review at home also.
Reading- We will read our first story, "Aurthor Writes a Story" and discuss the different feelings and emotions found in the story. We will also begin to discuss our independent reading time and looking for books that interest us. We want to make sure they are not too challenging and they are just right.
Language- We will talk about the what makes up a sentence and start to review the 4 different types of sentences.
Social Studies - Ask your child to name the seven continents and the 4 oceans. We will continue to review them next week. The students will make salt dough maps. I need a few things: blue tempra paint, paint brushes and salt dough. We will begin on Wednesday painting our boxes blue for the ocean. On Thursday I would love some volunteers to help with the salt dough. I need a few batches made up before hand. I will send the recipe. Let me know if you can help with any of these items! :)
Spelling- Pre-test will be on Tuesday. I will let your child know if they have 2 or 4 options each week. These will need to be done at home and then due on Friday. Don't forget to sign in the journal what the options they did from the bottom of the list.

One more note: Fizzy Friday- I had 4 sodas spill today!! Please talk to your child about not shaking the cans and bringing ones with lids. If this continues, we will have not participate in this. Thank you!
