**Quiz-Friday
Tuesday through Friday students will be in the computer lab. Students are responsible for 2 projects this week.
1. Type & publish (print) your District Writing
Sample.
2. Complete a competitive writing project. That
competitive project may be;
a. submitting writing for publication.
b. submitting writing for a contest
c. typing a “letter from a Nut” to send to a
corporation.
Remember, successful completion of any of these items means the student will be exempted from a week of vocabulary. The more competitions entered, the better the chances are of winning. Successful completion means that the student is accepted for publication, wins a contest or receives a response from their letter. students who are successful with two of these competitions will receive automatic 100’s for a week’s vocabulary assignments.
All guidelines for these projects will be posted on my shared drive. Students who would like to work at home and at school are urged to use a flash drive to facilitate the task. Students who work at home are expected to have the project available to work on in class each day until both assignments are completed. Not using the lab time effectively(not having the flash drive or work left home) will be considered as not being prepared to participate and therefore negatively impact the student's overall grade.
Last year over 150 students won contests or were published. I am very excited to see what this year's class can achieve!
WEEK OF FEBRUARY 2nd
Friday, February 6th is 8th grade Career Day. Immediately following that students will be taken ,via bus, to have a pizza lunch at Peter Piper Pizza and then will move on to the Dale Jackson Career Center. The Career Center Tour will rotate small groups through various career training facilities that boast cutting edge technologies. We hope this day will assist students in selecting areas of future study. We ask that students dress for the occaision by wearing business casual attire.
