Author Study: We are reading a chapter book about Squanto the Native American-ask your child about what has happened
Letter Stations: We are learning in many different letter stations. Ask your child what letter station they went to today.
Writer's Workshop: (this 6 weeks)
We have started writing sentences! We are working on drawing a setting, adding characters and then writing a sentence that starts with a capital letter, goes from left to right and then back to the left and has spaces in between words. We are also working on being able to copy sight words we want to use from the word wall and stretching out words we don't know and writing down any sounds we hear. Don't worry if your child is at home and misspells a word. I want them to feel confident about writing down the sounds they hear instead of worrying if it is spelled correct. For example: pumpkin can look like p or pm or pmk or pn. Just make sure they can read what they wrote. This is a GREAT thing to practice at home!
Math: We will begin to work on numbers 1-5. We will learn to write them correctly and count as well as make them different ways. We are also learning different ways to make the numbers. For example: 4: 0 and 4, 1 and 3, 2 and 2. Ask your child about the number station they went to today.
Social Studies:
We are learning about the history of Thanksgiving. We are learning about the customs of Pilgrims and the customs of the Native Americans. We are making costumes for both and will be wearing one in our program on Thursday. We are continuing to talk about things that we are thankful for.
