PLEASE NOTE that lesson plans are subject to change as the need arises. Students are responsible for copying the actual assignments each day from the Daily Planner chart in the front of my room. If a student is absent from class, then it is his/her responsiblity to obtain and make up missed work in a timely manner. Late work is only accepted one day after it is due (with a deduction of -30 points) -- except for the Reading Log. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

Each student receives a TAKING SIDES Journal
Preview the novel TAKING SIDES by Gary Soto by going through the first few pages of the Journals (with background information for the story and looking over the vocabulary)
Read Chapter 1 of TAKING SIDES; briefly summarize chapter and discuss the main character

HW: Students bring their novels for SSR tomorrow
Friday, May 16
Check students novels for SSR while they write the title, author and beginning page # in their Journals
SSR (Sustained Silent Reading) 30-35 minutes
HW: Reading Logs are due (signed by parents) on Monday; SSR Projects due May 27
