Hi Parents,
Mark your calendars --
Feb. 9th: This is our 2nd grade program night and PTA mtg. Please be in the library by 6:45 p.m. Your child needs to wear red, pink or white. The kids can't wait to show you what we've been working on this week!
Feb. 12th- Valentine Party 1:15 Parents are welcome to attend. If you haven't done so, please send $3.00 donation for the Valentine's party by Monday. Thanks!
Here is a list of the students. Please send a valentine card for every student: Christopher, Keshawn, Nathan H. Kaleb, Caitlyn, Alexis, Brinkley, Gabriel, Nathan P., Erin, Arben, Giovanni, Janessa, Megan, Elisabetta, Mckenna, Jordyn, Fernando, Bryan, Tekomah.
Feb. 15th: School holiday -- President's Day
Feb. 24th- Six Flags Reading Log Due
Please notice and read the information about earning a free Six Flags ticket. As the students read, they may write their book titles on their Reading Log and the Six Flags sheet. Wow, this is a GREAT offer!!!
Feb. 26th- Jump Rope for Heart
Mar. 15-19th: Spring Break :)
~Lunch Visitation weeks:
In an effort to have lunchtime go smoothly, our school has the following dates set aside for family members to visit.
Feb. 15-19, Mar. 22-26, Apr. 12-16, May 10-14. Our lunch time begins promptly at 11:15am and ends at 11:45am.
~Fine Arts Schedule:
Monday - Art
Tuesday - P. E. (wear tennis shoes)
Wednesday - Music (wear Class T-shirt)
Thursday - P. E. (wear tennis shoes)
Also, we will be going to the library on Thursday.
Friday - Science
Lessons for the week of Feb. 8th:
Math: Math Finishing up Topic 9: Subtraction and Beginning Topic 10, Fractions.
Keep practicing the math facts at home. If you need another laminated math fact sheet, let me know. Some of the kids are making tremendous progress. Thank you for your support at home!
Reading/Social Studies: We will read several interesting stories about Abe Lincoln and George Washington.
We WILL NOT have a vocabulary list for homework. (Happy Valentines Day!!!)
English: More creative writing.
Spelling: Unit 20 's' and 'es' plural endings. Test will be on Thursday.
Science: The Human Heart
~Homework Due Dates:
1)RAH log (Reading at Home) due on Fridays. Needs to be filled out and signed.
2)Vocabulary list - due on Fridays. Needs to be signed showing that you have reviewed 4 times with your child.
3)Math - given daily (M - Th) and due the next day.
4)Spelling - no paper to return but practice the words at home. Try different study methods -- make flash cards and sort the words different ways, use gel pens, etc. Also, the 'Spelling City' website is an awesome site for practicing spelling words. You can enter the words and do different games with them. Test will be on Thursdays, unless we have a short week.
