The Math Lab class is designed to help identify the math skills with which your student has difficulty and to master these skills which are used in their regular grade-level math class and on the TAKS test. No new information is presented in Math Lab—it is a constant review of previously-taught math concepts.
Because of the review nature of the class, all work is done in class and today's work in each class is determined by how the students did on yesterday's work, so I do not post "assignments" as such here on school notes.
Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division Facts
We started with a 7 minute maximum time limit and decreased by 15 seconds each week. Almost everyone is very near our goal of 90% accuracy with a 3 to 3:30 minute time. This means we are not making as many computation errors.
We continue to review concepts already covered in their regular classes. Memorizing the fraction/decimal/percent conversions is an area of concentration right now.
I am at school each morning by 7:15 AM for anyone needing extra help with math homework. (I am unable to stay after school unless pre-arranged). Every student was given a morning pass to check out of the cafeteria to come to room 7B if they need help before school.
Please email me with any concerns.
