It is hard to believe that we were out two days this week due to icy conditions. But we are back in school and working hard.
In Math, we are working on geometry. We are enjoying working on this concept. Please continue to review multiplication facts with your child.
In Reading, we will be reading In the Year of the Boar and Jackie Robinson. It is a wonderful story about a Chinese family who immigrates to New York. The main character, Shirley, soon finds out that living in American is different from her life in Chungking. She discovers what it means to be an American and to strive to be the best that one can be.
In Social Studies, we are learning all about the Native Americans and Europeans who occupied land in Texas years ago.
In Science, we are studying the human body. This is a fun unit of study. We will learn all the bones in the human body and study all the systems of the body.
We are benchmarking this week in Writing, Math, and Reading. I will be sending your student's scores home soon.
Just a reminder to be sure to have your child to school on time everyday. Attendance will be recorded by 9:30 a.m. this year.
We are having many students arrive to school late and therefore they are going through the breakfast line late. Please make sure your children get to school early enough for breakfast so that they can get to class on time.
Also, if your child forgets his/her lunch or books at home and you bring them to the office after 8:00, your child can pick them up at lunch time. Thanks!
