FOCUS in P.E. this year:
This year I hope to keep your children moving while they are in P.E., while teaching them about their physical health. Your students will attend P.E. once a week and we plan to have some fun while they are there. This year we will work on fine tuning our motor skills as well as improving our physical development.  We will learn about different sports this year as well as play some fun games. Once a month we will have a physical assessment day where the students will be timed doing the following: push-ups, sit-ups, strectching, and sprints. We hope to gradually improve our numbers and times as the year progresses.

Each week I will recognize one class as the "Performers of the week". This class will have performed will in P.E. as well as in their classroom. Classroom?...yes their classroom. The students know that as we focus on following directions in P.E., we also focus on obeying the ones given by the teachers outside the classroom. Each week I ask the teachers if their class  performed well for them. This report helps me determine if that class is a candidate for "Performers of the Week".

I really hope your kids enjoy this P.E. year and I am looking forward to helping them understand that you don't have to be a super athlete to enjoy exercising. If you have any concerns about the class or need to get ahold of me please feel free to email me at: djackson@lakelandbaptist.org.

Grading Policy:
Your students will be graded based on the effort they give when they come to class. Here is how the grading scale will work:

E = Student meets and goes well beyond expected criteria.
S+ = Student meets and exceeds standard expected criteria.
S = Student meets standard expected criteria.
S- = Student falls just below expected criteria.
N = Student is not meeting expected criteria.
U = Unsatisfactory

The Rules:
1. Please where tennis shoes on the day you have P.E.
2. Come with a positive attitude and be willing to do your best.
3. Respect your fellow classmates and their abilities.
4. Listen when instructions are given
5. Follow directions: This is an area that we will focus on alot throughout this year. I want the students to have fun this year, but also want them to realize the importance of the rules given.

Weekly Schedule:
Monday: 3rd Rozendaal, 1st Teal, and 1st Dockins
Tuesday: K(1/2) Ligon, Kinder. Wallace, and 5th/6th Flemons/Jackson
Wednesday: K-Stowers and 4th-Van Brunt & Pearce
Thursday: 2nd Wilder & Haden

About Me:
My name is Doug Jackson and I will be the P.E. coach this year at Lakeland Christian Academy. I am also the 5th & 6th grade math and science teacher, so some of your children will see me often. I love pretty much all sports and have a passion for sports ministry. I spend my time in the summers going on sports mission trips where I have served in both South Africa and Uruguay. I currently serve as the Director of the Upward Basketball program at Lakeland and participate with a sports ministry basketball team in the metroplex. I am looking forward to a fun and exciting year as we learn more about the importance of our physical health!
