Dear Parents,
First, let me apologize for missing so much school, but I am feeling a lot better now, and hopefully will get back on track very soon.
We will have a "50's Day" next Tuesday to celebrate the 50th day of school. Please encourage your kids to dress in the style of the 50's.
Please sign the Progress Reports and return them Monday. We took our first Practice TAKS Test a few weeks ago, and I will be going over these Tests one question at a time for the next few weeks. The scores were not as high as I would have liked, but I am not worried as we have lots of time to cover the material we need to get ready. A lot of the material on the Tests were objectives we have not covered as of yet.
I will begin tutoring next week, so if your child got a note about this, please fill in the date they will attend, and sign and return the form.
We will be covering the following curriculum next week:
MATH-I will be reviewing the TAKS Practice Test-all objectives.
SCIENCE-We are currently beginning our Geology Unit. We will take our Unit C, Chapter 1 Test on Wednesday, which the kids all wrote in their assignment folders.
SPELLING-We will be on Unit 11.
LANGUAGE-We are discussing Verb Tenses-Past, Present and Future, and Subject-Verb agreement.
READING-I will be in the process of using the D.R.A. assessment to place the kids in Reading Groups and we will begin "stations" where they will be performing various objectives to coorelate to the books the group will be reading.
SOCIAL STUDIES-We have a Test Monday over Chapter 7, but we will take the Test together as most of the Chapter was done while I was gone--I will be assisting them in finding all the answers, so all will do fine.
