“Update 5/1/09 3:30 p.m. – LCA will be closed Monday May 4 through Friday May 8th. All LCA school activities, including sports are cancelled. LCA is following LISD in closing. There are no known cases of Swine Flu at Lakeland Christian Academy. Closing is a precautionary measure supported by the Denton County Health Department.”
LCA will be closed Monday, May 4th through Friday, May 8th.
In cooperation with the Denton County Health Department and its assessment of the increasing number of probable cases of H1N1 (swine flue), Type A and Influenza-like illness within LISD school district, the health department supports school closing from Monday, May 4 through Friday, May 8th. Students and staff will not have to makeup days lost due to the swine flu school closures.
Symptoms of the swine flu are similar to the regular seasonal flu. Swine flu symptoms include: high fever of 100.5 or higher, severe headache, muscle and body aches, chills, fatigue, vomiting and diarrhea. If your child has any of these symptoms, please call your child's doctor immediately.
Our schools top priority is the safety and welfare of our students and staff, and therefore we are taking Denton County Health Department's directive seriously. We recognize that closing our school will cause hardship for our families; however, we want to ensure our school is safe and conducive learning environments.
