Wow! What a rainy Monday! I hope you had a terrific weekend. I know that I did! We have a lot of great things planned this week so let's get ready! Also, I will be starting TPRI's (Texas Primary Reading Inventory) today and will be setting up our Beginning of the Year conferences for next week.

What’s happening this week:
* In Math, we will continue reviewing our addition facts! We will continue to be learning more “fast strategies” to solve add. facts like memorizing their doubles facts, tens facts, touch math, zero facts, etc.
* In Readers’Workshop, we will be taking a quiz over Readers' Workshop Rules on Friday and we'll be talking about the importance of characters in their reading. I will finish assessing your child’s guided reading level, as well as their TPRI's, this week so that I can form our guided reading groups.
*In Writers’ Workshop, We will be starting our handwriting practice and working with the 4 different types of sentences: statements, questions, exclamations, and commands. Please make sure to ask your child questions about their writing: How’s it going? What will you write next? etc. We also will be talking about the writing process and helpful writing hints.
*In Science/Social Studies, we will continue our Community unit and Scientific Processes unit.

*If you have not joined PTA yet, please do so! It's only $6.50 for an individual membership and it's definitely worth it. Our class will get a reward if we have 100% participation! Thanks!
