Students are learning to relate functions and variables to real life activities. We are doing the "Rose Problem" which a business model for Longfellow's Spirit Team selling roses to the students for a fund raiser project. This activity connects real world situations to Algebra and cross-teaches business skills as well. After the basic concepts are learned, the students will be asked to interpret their knowledge, via the situation, into mathmatical/algebraic terms.
Work Sheets, Home Work, and Test/Quizes:
Activity 1 and
Activity 2 are WSs done in class
Quiz #2 will be administered to check understanding on functions and variables.
Test #1 will be administerd to check understanding over Chapter 1. (all info learned up to this point)
Any of the curriculum that is not able to be completed during class time, must be completed for HW. This is administered on a class by class basis.
Assisngments:
Students should be preparing for Quiz 3 and Test 1.
All material on both quiz and tests has been given during class to be put in their notes. There is an upcoming Test, at the end of the 6 weeks, which will cover all material taught up to that point in the 6 weeks. Semester exams will be an accumulation of material from all 3 6 Weeks exams and Chapter Exams given.
FYI:
(All students should have all information needed to study in their Algebra notes. I never test or quiz over any infomation that has not been given as notes to go in student's "notes spiral.")
