THE SYNERGISTIC LAB IS BASED ON A SELF-PACED MODULE LEARNING SYSTEM.
FOR FALL 2008:
EACH ROTATION TAKES ABOUT 7 TO 9 SCHOOL DAYS TO COMPLETE AND HAS SEVEN SESSIONS.
The lab just had installed the latest software and new computers and monitors. Currently we are using 15 modules including audio broadcasting, career, graphic communication, digital design, computer assisted design, light and laser, forces, logic and reasoning, electricity, robots, environmental issues, practical skills and engineering bridges.
Each day the students should be working on a new session. While most sessions take about one class period, several take a little longer. The synergistic program is unusual in that the students take a pre-test at the being of the rotation and a post test at the end. Most students significantly improve their knowledge of that module after working on that rotation.
IN GENERAL THERE IS NO ASSIGNED HOMEWORK. SIXTY PERCENT OF THE FINAL GRADE IS BASED ON THE LAB, TWENTY PERCENT ON CLASSWORK AND THE REMAINING 20 PERCENT ON CLASSROOM TESTS.
