4th Six Weeks Spring 2010

This comprehensive foundation course, designed to be one semester in length, provides opportunities to explore family relationships and personal development, personal management, and planning for the future. Emphasis is on the importance of the family, effective communications skills, management skills, how to get along with others including family members and peers, decision making, acceptance of responsibility, and child care practices that promote positive development. Other content addresses positive self-image, nutrition, wellness, personal appearance, managing multiple roles, and career options.
Skills for Living…….Discovering Self: Personal and Resource Management
Week 1- Orientation to Skills for Living.
Week 2- Students will interpret the unique characteristics of self.
Week 3- Students will analyze factors that create a positive self-image.
Week 4- Students will outline elements of effective time management and apply the management process.
Week 5- Students will outline elements of effective money management and apply the management process.
Week 6- Students will outline elements of effective stress management and apply the management process.
Grading Policy
Students will be graded according to these guidelines…
Class Work/Homework = 45%
Projects/Products= 20%
Tests = 20 %
Six Weeks Tests= 15%
Total = 100%
Make up Policy
Students will be allowed two school days after an absence for every day missed to complete assignments or tests missed during that absence.
