January 31, 2008
Since the begining of this new semester, students were not given homework so that they can focus on their Science Fair Project.  Science Fair Projects were due Wednesday January 30th.  Today is our homework day.  Students were given an easy worksheet that should show if they mastered the concepts on physical and chemical properties and changes.  This paper is due tomorrow February first, 2008.  The syllabus for this fourth six weeks was sent home today.  Please read and sign and have your child bring it back to me.  Thank you.

December 6th, 2007
Today, students were given an enrichment and reinforcement activity on chapter 17.  A classwork and Key Terms and puzzle was also taken home by students who were not able to complete the paper in class.  There will be a test on the three systems on Friday February 7th 2007.  The homework is due tomorrow.

November 29th, 2007
Today, students were given a reinforcement activity on the digestive system.  Also some students did not complete their classwork in class and are expected to complete it and bring it in tomorrow as well These  activities will prepare students for their test tomorrow on the digestive system.  The classwork is on page 487 of their text numbers 1-5.

November 1st through November 9th

Since the students just completed the long awaited Biome project, they have this week free of homework.  However on Friday November 3rd they will be given a study guide on the respiratory and excretory systems.  They are not obligated to do it at home but if they wish to study, they could read along. The study guide will be worked on in class.  We will be having a lab on Lung Capacity on Wednesday and the lab report will be turned in on thursday November 8th.  Some students will probably finish everything in class.  There will be a chapter review homework on Thursday November 8th.  If the students understand the concepts, we will have a test on Friday.  If I am not sure of their mastery level, I will give them a quiz.  This is the outlook for next week.

OCTOBER 18th through November 1st

The students have two weeks to do this project. From October 18th through November first.  Students were given the grading rubric.

EARTH’S BIOME PROJECT
Your teacher will show you how to make a foldable in class. However, the student is free to use their own initiative to beautify their project as they prefer.

"You are to use a world map and show the location of the seven terrestrial biomes of the earth.  On a copy of a blank world map, show the locations of the earth biomes.  You may use this as the front cover of your project.

Use one or two pages to write and illustrate certain features of each biome.  Do NOT place two biomes on the same page.  Below is the information you need to include for each of the terrestrial biomes.

1. The location of the biome or where in the world the biome can be found.
2. Describe the climate of the biome.  Include the average temperature and average rainfall per year.
3. List the dominant plants.  Include any reasonable adaptations that made it possible for the plants to survive there.  (Cut and paste pictures where available.  Photocopies and drawings are acceptable)
4. Describe the characteristics of animals found in the biome.  What adaptations do they have to survive in that biome?

For the Aquatic Biomes, distinguish between Freshwater ecosystem and Salt water ecosystem.  Give and explain examples of each.  Choose one of each of the aquatic ecosystem and follow the same pattern of information given to you for terrestrial biomes to write about in your project.
