-describe the difference between employees and

-discuss how entrepreneurs create value from “scarce”
resources
-explain why entrepreneurs like change
-evaluate the pros and cons of owning a business
-research the NFTE website to lean the goals and mission
-research the NFTE website for young entrepreneurs and
prepare a written report
-take a NFTE Survey (Pre-Test)describe the difference between employees and entrepreneurs
-spotlight an “Entrepreneur”
-view a video presentation on “Entrepreneurship”

-describe the characteristics of a successful entrepreneur
-identify their own entrepreneurial characteristics
-learn how to develop characteristics that will help them in Business

-explore the contributions of minority and women inventors
-describe the five steps of developing a product
-suggest a product or service that could be used in developing their businesses
-begin developing ideas for their businesses

-describe the four types of businesses and
-describe the difference between products and services
-identify individual skills and hobbies
-explore the competitive advantage of their businesses

-distinguish between an idea and an opportunity
-recognize and evaluate business opportunities
-perform a SWOT analysis of a business opportunity
between products and services

Students will be able to:

Keyboarding Techniques

-demonstrate correct posture and position at the keyboard
-demonstrate proper care and operation of equipment
-demonstrate the correct touch-system techniques for operating the alphabetic keys, numeric and symbol keys, the ten-key numeric pad, and correct use of the command and function keys

-craete business documents using current and emerging technology
-produce business documents using word processing
-correct and print a business document
-produce a business report containing text and graphics

-develop effective communications and information management using emerging technology including telecommunications
-model business ethic and correct etiquette when using telecommunications
-communicate effectively
-demonstrate basic writing skills through assigned atasks
-demonstrate effective communication techniques when using the telephone in a business environment
-demonstrate effective listening skills

-procedures involved in delivering information and products with the US Postal Service
-identify classes of mail and delivery services available
-compare cost of various delivery services
