The typing tutor program that we use will accommodate beginner to advanced students. Through personalized exercises, exciting typing games, friendly encouragement, and instant feedback, the tutor provides effective, one-on-one instruction to improve each student's typing proficiency.
AGENDA FOR THE WEEK:
Keyboarding lab orientation;
Keyboarding lab rules and procedure;
Log on orientation;
Begin learning the keyboard by touch;
Exposure to Microsoft Office Word Program;
Learn the parts of the microsoft word window;
Practice typing short words;
Learn how to save work;
Learn how to retrieve work.
September 2-5, 2008
Students will continue learning the keyboard by touch through their tutor. students will continue to be encouraged to use proper technique. students will type simple words and sentences. students will be tested on the microsoft word screen; students will work with the drawing toolbar to create fun faces.
September 8-12, 2008
MEET THE TEACHER NIGHT - TUESDAY FROM 6 P.M. TO 8 P.M.
Continue learning keyboard by touch; drill practice on difficult keys; students will work with the drawing toolbar to create a character; students will use the word art feature on the drawing toolbar and create a power point slide about themselves; students will learn how to use the color printer.
September 15-19, 2008
Continue to practice on all keys; Students will begin to build speed by practice timings; students will learn some hardware terms; students will be tested on Wednesday/Thursday;students will create a cover page for their portfolio by using power point program. students will continue to work on typing paragraphs and wordwrapping.
September 29-October 3, 2008
Students will continue building keyboarding speed; students will format documents; students will learn punctuation spacing and line spacing; students will make a western days flyer.
October 6-10, 2008
Students will learn vertical and horizontal centering. students will take their weekly timed writing; students will learn proofreader's marks and apply to a document; students will learn word processing features such as line spacing, underlining, and margins in order to produce reports that are correctly formatted.
October 13-17, 2008
Students will begin a Report Project which will include various type of reports; students will take their weekly timed writing; students will learn how to make agendas and outlines.
October 20-24, 2008
Students will format enumerations on agendas and outlines; students will work on multipage reports using the page break option and page numbering; students will learn how to make columns; students will learn now to use the numeric key pad; students will take their weekly timed writing.
October 27-31, 2008
Students will review for a word processing and report test; students will work in the language link section editing the grammar in each sentence;students will take the weekly timed writing test; students will learn how to create tables.
November 2-7, 2008
Students will learn how to create tables that will include the following: vertial and horizontal centering; shading; custom borders and grids; deleting and inserting rows and colums; cell merging; students will take their weekly timed writing.
