One week down and 35 to go!  Wow! We have been learning the processes authors use to create stories and write literature.  This week we focused on character.  Next week, we will focus on setting.  Authors must create characters and establish setting to be able to write a story.  Our ultimate goal for the first nine weeks is to finish our first personal narrative piece.  A personal narrative is a piece of writing that communicates a story to the reader.  So, talk to your son/daughter about the story elements and how they work.  If you have a chance, you might even have him/her watch a 30 minute sitcom and then discuss the characters, their traits, and then the behaviors that support the traits.  Next week begin discussing how the setting affects the outcome of the show!

Again, Welcome to 7th grade!!
