1. Write an acrostic poem about Memorial Day. This holiday honors veterans from all past wars (starting with the Revolutionary War) and those military service people who have died. It officially started after the Civil War, but now includes all veterans.
On notebook paper, put a complete heading, the title of the poem is Memorial Day Poem. Then skip a line and down the side of your paper, using one line for each letter put MEMORIAL DAY. The letter at the begining of each line will be the first letter in the line of that poetry.

1. "America" picture. Color page to match painting on the overhead. Use map pencils. If student does not finish, painting can be found on the internet by searching Manifest Destiny and looking for the painting by John Gast. After coloring the painting, the student will select one of the characters in the painting and write a paragraph at the bottom of the page about how that character relates to Manifest Destiny. Write about the impact of the westward movement of America on that character. This paper will count as a take home quiz and is due Thursday.
2. Tonight's homework is to read pages 384-389 about the Texas Revolution. This is a review of last year of 7th grade Texas History. Complete the Guided Reading w.s. given out in class today.
Off-Schedule day due to Math Benchmark during 1st, 2nd, and 3rd periods. Zero, 4th and 5th periods had a Chapter 12 Reading Study Guide to work on. Packet due on Thursday. 1st and 2nd periods received the packet on Tuesday and it is due Thursday.
