Our class will be taking the first of our two field trips on Friday, April 25th. This will be a very informative and fun trip with two destinations!
Heres what you need to know:
Dress: spirit day shirts and uniform shorts or pants
Shoes: comfortable walking shoes
Lunch: bring a sack lunch and plenty of water
Schedule:
8:05 We will load up in the cars and leave immediately following morning prayer.
9:00 NCTC agricultural presentation
11:00 We will drive to the Bartush ranch just north of Muenster. It will be important for all vehicles to stay together as the ranch is located on a gravel road. Cell phones do not generally work in that area.
11:30 We will eat our lunches at the ranch.
12:00 The students will get to see Native American artifacts and art work and have the chance to hunt for arrowheads!
1:45 We will leave and head back to ICCS.
Thank you to those of you who volunteered as drivers and chaperones. Directions will be provided to all drivers along with important telephone numbers. If you have any changes in insurance information since you filled the form out in January, please let us know so we can inform the office.
Sincerely,
Ms. Bartush and Mrs. Byrd

April 2, 2008
Dear Parents,
April is possibly the busiest month of the school year. Before I go into the curriculum we will be studying, I want to make sure you all know of the upcoming events this month:
Friday, April 4th the Fourth Grade Stores Please bring all items excluding food to school the day before. Each child needs to bring about $20 in change ones and quarters should be fine.
Tuesday, April 8th Texas Program The students will perform their program in the morning for the school community and in the evening at the Fine Arts Night. A note will go home in a few days with specific times.
Thursday, April 10th Mass with Bishop Kevin Vann with reception following. Please come celebrate with us!
Friday, April 18th Noon dismissal in order to set up for the annual auction on Saturday.
Saturday, April 19th ICCS Annual Auction at 6 pm in the gym! Come and support our school!
Friday April 25th Fourth grade class field trip to NCTC in Gainesville and the Mary Bartush Ranch outside of Muenster.
Friday May 2nd Field trip to the Bloomfield One-Room Schoolhouse. The children are invited to wear pioneer clothing on this trip. You may want to start planning an outfit!
Now for what well be learning in the classroom:
o Religion We are currently doing the Project Genesis Series. As you know from previewing the book, the students will learn about how to grow as a child of God. Lessons covered will address maturity, accepting differences in others, and living the virtues in our daily lives.
o Reading We are in the middle of a unit on Business. The students are not only developing their reading comprehension skills and fluency, but are learning about the world of business at the same time! April will be the last month that I will require a book report. It will be due on April 30th.
o English We are finishing our unit on the mechanics of writing. Your child has been learning about the comma, quotation marks, and capitalization rules. A unit test will be coming up very soon. We will take what weve learned and apply it to our own writing. As you know, the students have been keeping a creative writing notebook all year. This month they will revise and edit their stories in order to rewrite them into a nice folder of their work. This writing folder project will be a major part of their grade this quarter.
o Social Studies We will continue with Texas history. The students will begin studying Texas after the Civil War. We are also keeping up with current events through reading Weekly Reader classroom magazines. The students will also be working on their maps and graphs skills in the classroom as they practice using an atlas.
o Spelling We continue to study our spelling rules through weekly assignments and tests.
Thanks!
