This time of year will be extremely busy with Show season starting up in January. Students need to remember to get the appropriate shots and health papers for each show. This year I will be attending San Antonio Stock Show and the Austin Stock Show.
Cattle will arrive at Austin on March 4, 2008. Keep in mind this is the beginning of TAKS testing so we will be asking for parent's help to move cattle in. Due to TAKs testing cattle that were originally scheduled to Show on Wednesday, March 5th have been moved to show on Thursday. All cattle will show Thursday and are released this date. I have sent letters home with show students on the arrangements that need to be made due to TAKS testing. Parents make sure and remind them of the letters.
Along with Stock Shows, we will also be going to judging contests. I'm currently working on entering 5 different judging contest, to include, MCC on March 26th, TSU invitation--3/27/08, Navarro Co. on March 28th. Area will be at TSU on March 2, wish the judgers good luck as this contest as this contest determines if we go to state.
Currently 8th and 9th graders studying the Breeds of Cattle.
Ag. Power students have completed a personal project on wood and metal fasteners. We are now studying the dissassembly of Small Engines.
Ag. Structures and Ag. Mechanics have been working on a tilt trailer which will be ready to sale at the end of the year. We are also building salt and mineral feeders. This class has also built a Swing Arbor, which will be given away at the West Falls Youth Booster Club drawing which will be held in Westphalia. Thanks should be given to the committee members for their hardwork in producing money for the youth of our community.
The Advanced Floral Design class were successful in making coffee mug arrangements for the faculty for National FFA Week. All arrangements were very appreciative by our faculty. Thanks goes out to the girls for their hard work.
