Read chapters 1 and 2 of "Where the Red Fern Grows" by Wilson Rawls

Adverbs: See flashcards.

In class we went over the first two chapters of "Where the Red Fern Grows." If you go to the link that I sent you you will find a page that has a list of books highlighted in blue.
Click on "Where the Red Fern Grows." Scroll down to Chapters 1 and 2 "On Line Questions" Answer the questions for chapters 1 and 2. This was not for a grade today. It was just an introduction to the novel. However, these questions may be on quizes and tests.

Tuesday, January 6th

In class we read chapters 3 and 4.

FOR A GRADE= Write the definition of each word from chapters 1 and 2. Draw a picture that shows what each word means. (Not grading on artistic ability)

CHAPTER ONE
dormant
caressed

CHAPTER TWO
gnawing
bottoms (in reference to a river)
switch (in reference to a stick)

FOR A GRADE
Draw a map of Oklahoma.
Label:
Illinois River
Talequah
On the outside of the northeastern border of Oklahoma draw a few triangles and label them the Ozark Mountains. (Note the mountains aren't actually in Oklahoma but they are very close to its northeastern border.)
Color the map.
Hint: Print out a map of the state and trace it!
