We are still traveling around the world. We dropped into South America for a try at Amate bark paintings, and Venezuelan folk art sculptures. Next is a trip to Italy to look at Renaissance/Baroque portraits. All kids are doing self-portraits and learning something about layering color and facial proportions into the bargain. Following Italy we jet to Ireland to take a look at illuminated manuscripts and try our hands at calligraphy and illuminating something of our own.
6TH, 7TH & 8TH GRADE ART
The first few weeks of the quarter we will be concentrating on improving drafting and observation skills. Students will be learning the basics of perspective, foreshortening, shadowing, line, balance, and the gray scale. They will also be working on decorations for the Holy Spirit Auction. Following that students will also have a chance to work with clay which will be fired in our kiln. All middle school classes have contributed clay animals to our auction project Noah's Ark. It's fantastic!
