I look forward to working with you and your child this school year! I included some important information to ensure a successful and rewarding year for your child!
School Attendance and Schedule
Your child’s regular and prompt attendance at school is crucial to his/her success. Our school day begins at 8:00am. If you arrive before 8:00, your child can wait in the cafeteria in the second grade line. If your child arrives after 8:00, please get a tardy slip from the office before sending your child to the classroom. If your child is absent, please send a note stating the reason on the day your child returns to school. If you will be picking up your child early, you must go to the office and sign them out. The office staff will then call me to release the child to you. Please remember that these policies are here for the safety of your children and must be followed. I ask that parents exit the classroom immediately upon dropping off the students so that we can promptly begin our day. I also ask that parents not stand near the windows before dismissal as this distracts the students. Thank you!
Weekly Reader
It is challenging to get students excited about reading nonfiction, so I ask that each parent give money to order a Weekly Reader magazine. The magazine discusses current events and includes a monthly science magazine. It is a great tool for science and social studies and my previous students really enjoyed them. Please send $6.00 cash or a check to Weekly Reader.
Money
Throughout the year, I will be required to collect money (field trips, book orders, etc…) and it is so difficult to keep track of this. Please only send money with your child if it is in a sealed envelope with a name on it. This will help me out so much!
