Welcome to Mark Twain’s Science Laboratory

Mark Twain scientists have started off the year by reviewing class expectations and lab safety rules.  The number one priority in the science lab is keeping our young scientists safe.  We do lots of “hands-on” science which means that we work with a variety of materials.  Our scientists must follow certain rules in order to stay safe.  These rules are established to ensure a safe, calm atmosphere where we can conduct meaningful investigations and experiments.  Students “Science and Safety” grade is affected by a student’s behavior in the science lab.

                     Science Lab Rules

•    Come into class calmly, sit in assigned seat, and wait quietly for instruction.
•    Listen when others are speaking.
•    Raise hand and wait for a turn to talk.
•    Raise hand and ask for permission to leave assigned seat.
•    Keep hands and feet off others.
•    Respect classroom materials.
•    Follow instructions.
•    Leave quietly and calmly.

                           Rewards

Students are rewarded for following the science lab rules by:
•    The privilege  of doing hands-on science in a stimulating learning environment
•    Praise
•    Stickers

                       Consequences

If students are unable to follow the science lab rules, they will receive one or more of the following consequences:
