Thanks so much for being patient with me!!!

What a wonderful first day we had today!  I am so excited because the class is WONDERFUL.  I am looking forward to a terrific year.
Just a few reminders:
•    Your child will need a binder for my class.  I recommend one with a zipper, they tend to last longer and keep papers neater.  If you decide to get a different one, please make sure it is one and a half inches wide.  THANK YOU!
•    Please make sure you fill out all of the forms in the back to school folder.  Remember to join the PTO.
•    I will have sign up lists for classroom helpers at Open House.  I hope to see you all there.

If you have any comments, questions, ideas, or concerns, please let me know.  Working together, I know this will be an amazing year.

Welcome to Mrs. Rawson’s Fourth Grade Class!

This will be a fun and exciting year for everyone! Our journey will be filled with lots of excitement, challenges and fun.

Parent/Teacher Relationship
I believe a strong parent – teacher relationship is essential for every child’s success at school.  Throughout the year I will contact you through newsletters, emails, phone calls, and conferences.  You can email me at mrawson1@houstonisd.org or call me at 713-295-5230.   I am available for conferences daily from 9:55 – 10: 40 or after school everyday except Wednesday.

Attendance and Schedule
It is very important for your child to be at school everyday at 8:00 to ensure success.  If your child is tardy please sign in at the office before coming into the classroom.  If your child is absent, please send a note stating the reason for the absence.  If you are picking up your child early, please let me know and also sign out in the office when you arrive to pick them up.

Tuesday Folders
Your child will bring home a special folder every Tuesday with important school and classroom information.  It may also contain work your child has completed.

Binders
I am asking each child to bring a 1 ˝ binder to organize information.  The ones with zippers are a little more expensive, but they work great and last longer.  Your child will bring home their binder with their agenda inside each night.  In the agenda you will find homework listed.  In the binder you will find reference sheets, homework, and daily work.   Please make sure to check your child’s agenda each night.  This will provide an opportunity for your child to share what he/she has done each day. .  Please help your child remember to bring the binder to school daily

Conduct
In our classroom we create Essential Agreements, which are expectations for each person in order to create a safe and fun learning environment.

Birthdays
Birthdays are special occasions for children.  You may bring cupcakes to serve after our lunch on your child’s birthday.  Invitations may be passed out at school only if either all children or the entire gender (all boys or all girls) in the class are invited to the party.  Otherwise, please mail invitations.  Although it may seem inconvenient to distribute invitations this way, it can result in hurt feelings for those not invited

Lunch
Your child may bring a lunch or purchase one from the cafeteria.  Lunches can be paid for in the office in the morning (or online) so that your child doesn’t risk losing lunch money.

Water Bottles/Snacks
You may send a water bottle with your child to school each day.  Please send only water in the bottle.  Also, remember to label the bottle with your child’s name.  Children may also bring a healthy snack to school.  Please make sure the snack is neat and healthy.

Schoolnotes
I currently update my teacher website at Schoolnotes.com.  We are currently in the process of creating a class blog!  I’ll keep you updated!!!

Thanks You!!
I realize this is a lot of information, but I know many parents have questions and it helps to get everything in place from the beginning.  I am looking forward to a great year working with you and your child!  My goal is to provide a nurturing learning environment where your child can be successful.

I am looking forward to a wonderful year at Mark Twain!
